Job Description:
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery,
and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words,
we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS
data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power,
and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual
access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most
challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the
supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to
help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network
engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations
managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people
across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and
security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest
possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive
culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to
completion. Amazon Web Services is seeking a Senior Product
Lifecycle Electrical Engineer to be part of a global engineering
team responsible for ownership and continuous improvement related
to electrical controls infrastructure products within our rapidly
expanding data center footprint. The Electrical Product Lifecyle
Engineering (PLE) Team within Controls Products & Services drives
product and process improvements for AWS infrastructure controls
products that are in the sustaining phase of the product lifecycle.
PLE goals are high product reliability and availability, agility,
and reduced costs for our customers. PLE requests feedback from
product customers to understand areas for improvement and then
prioritize new feature requests, documentation updates, and product
and process improvements to maintain customer trust. PLE is data
driven, monitoring equipment maintenance and failure data,
identifying failure trends, and troubleshooting to determine root
causes of failures. The product lifecycle engineering team provides
technical management for sustaining products. We are looking for
engineers with hands on electrical controls infrastructure design
and product development experience. If you can design and
troubleshoot PLC and relay based electrical controls systems, have
an understanding of the critical equipment needs for a data center,
and understand the constructability of varying designs you may be a
good fit. You should be capable of understanding equipment
specifications and evaluating the merit of design changes. As a
Global Amazon Product Lifecycle Engineer, you will provide
electrical controls infrastructure product lifecycle support to AWS
data centers. You will collaborate with the product development
team to gain deep understanding of all facets of each product as
they are being developed and tested, and then support the product
through its operational life. You will be a global ‘go-to’
engineering resource for electrical AWS products deployed in data
centers. Amazon has a global presence. Travel will be necessary,
will be intermittent and should be expected to reach up to 50%.
International support will be part of the job, and some
international travel may be necessary. Your contribution could
consist of leading international projects and could require
developing engineering information packages. Key job
responsibilities Responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer: •
Possess strong engineering judgement and are able to provide
recommendations despite uncertainty • Collaborate with other
disciplines such as mechanical engineering, reliability,
operations, and compliance • Are detail and data oriented • Have
experience engineering data center projects and/or products •
Review, update, and approve equipment submittals • Work with global
electrical equipment suppliers and manufacturers • Build trust and
relationships with different stakeholders (e.g. operations, design)
• Work on concurrent projects, in multiple geographic zones •
Understand and explain complex systems in clear and concise
language • Support Operations including failure mode and root cause
analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting support, and operating
procedure review. • Listen to the voice of the customer to
understand if there are improvements that can be made to increase
product reliability or availability • Work with global supplier and
manufacturers to design product improvements, and to oversee root
cause analysis • Contribute to our global body of knowledge and
drive a cycle of continuous improvement at a global scale This
position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and
obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. If you
meet these qualifications, exude passion, and enjoy the challenge
of innovative projects at hyper-scale, this job is for you! About
the team The Control Products & Services (CPS) team is a
