The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Credit Union in achieving its mission of becoming the members financial partner and helping to fulfill their life-long dreams. Your role to achieve this mission will be to provide outstanding internal and external (team) member service while educating our members about our lending products and services, and provide solutions to best fit their individual needs. Engage in a positive, consultative sales and service culture. Increase knowledge of all credit union products and services to maximize every member interaction. Assure compliance with internal policies and procedures and all applicable Federal and State laws and regulations.

Responsibilities


  • Answer inbound phone and Video Lending calls and input loan applications for consumer loan and mortgage products.
  • Conduct consultative discussions with members and non-members via phone, Video Lending, email, and other delivery channels, identifying product and service solutions that best fit individual needs.
  • Contact online applicants to verify information and provide member consultation before submitting to underwriting.
  • Review credit reports, member relationships and transaction histories during each consultation to identify additional cross-help and loan savings opportunities.
  • Apply basic knowledge of consumer credit guidelines and principles to all member consultations. Structure loans to best fit member needs.
  • Proactively work towards advanced knowledge of consumer lending products, policies/procedures, and guidelines, as well as lending principles including credit scores, ability to repay, and underwriting ratios.
  • Communicate loan decisions to members. Explain denial reasons and provide resources for financial/credit assistance as applicable. Collect supporting documentation from applicants.
  • Record and track member contacts and contact attempts in member relationship management (MRM) system. Maintain all MRM events and work queues as assigned.
  • Assist branch staff with loan inquiries to ensure excellent member service.
  • Consistently meet or exceed established Level I minimum expectations. Contribute to organizational goals established for the achievement of increasing retail services per member, promoting the Big A, and any other goals as established by department supervisor or the A+ leadership team.
  • Maintain job level knowledge by attending trainings and reviewing procedures to perform all duties required of the position.
  • Complete all Discover U assignments and assigned training as required for Level I.
  • Perform other credit union functions and responsibilities as required or assigned.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with flexibility to adapt to change.
    • Attention to detail in order to provide accurate, relevant, and timely information to internal and external members.
    • Problem-solving skills, including dealing with potential conflict.
    • Intermediate MS Office experience including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

      Job Requirements:

      Education and Experience


      • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
      • One year sales-focused experience required.
      • One year financial institution experience required.
      • One year call center and/or lending experience preferred.
