Open Until Filled Position Summary: This position is responsible for budget preparation and analysis work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Contribute to the development and approval of the cooperative annual operating budget Provide financial advice to managers Review operating budgets to identify and analyze trends that affect the budget Compile, organize and interpret financial data, i.e., capital vs. expense, return on investment and resource allocation --Input, monitor, and report on capital budgets from individual projects to cooperative --capital expenditures Oversee the preparation and analysis of periodic actual to budget comparisons Communicate financial analytical data and-- analysis to supervisors, managers and directors for decision making Develop, prepare, analyze and proactively report actual to budget variances Analyze and report revenue and expense trends Provide financial policy guidance as the finance representative on cross-functional teams Manage the preparation of the capital projects budget to ensure alignment with management initiatives Review general and utility plant projects requests for accuracy, proper approval and budgetary compliance Develop, coordinate, implement and analyze special projects Analyze financial, statistical accounting information to formulate recommendations Identify problem areas, evaluate, recommend and implement alternative solutions-- Establish controls to monitor and ensure projects are within budget Ensure activities are correctly classified and costs coded to general ledger accounts Prepare cost data analysis reports to support financial decisions Develop methods, procedures and controls to enhance effectiveness, efficiency and accuracy of financial data Prepare, maintain and interpret financial budget reports and analysis Provide functional support on troubleshooting, upgrades or changes to financial computer systems Compile and coordinate spreadsheets, databases, draw charts and graphs into reports for management decision making Integrate financial data --between multiple systems Provide analytical support to other Finance Departments Maintain the security of confidential information Stay abreast of advances in technology Supervisory and /or Leadership Responsibilities: -- Provide technical direction and instruction to less experienced employees Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data or processing information Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service Knowledge of advanced finance concepts Knowledge of GAAP and FERC accounting, financial statements and capital policies of the cooperative Skilled in time management Skilled in prioritizing and managing changing priorities Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to listen and understand information verbally and in writing Ability to anticipate, identify, analyze and resolve conflict and problems Ability to compute and interpret complex financial and statistical data Minimum Qualifications - (Education, Experience, Certification, & Licensure): Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field Experience may substitute for education Three years related work experience Valid Texas Driver's License Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.-- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
