Mentor and assist with training team members. Some oversight of other IT team members might be required. Provide support and leadership in analyzing current Graduate School systems.Responsibilities
    • Designs, develops, implements, maintains, and enhances computer-based information systems to ensure efficiency and accuracy and meet business needs. Performs complex systems analysis and programming tasks requiring advanced techniques. Determines data needs and entity relationships; designs database structure for efficient and effective data storage and retrieval. Maintains a robust and reliable information system infrastructure. Provides technical advice and consultation.
    • Conducts analysis of complex data processing applications and prepares feasibility studies to evaluate departmental and user needs for new or revised systems. Defines business requirements and system objectives, investigates available hardware and software configurations and capabilities; recommends optimal system to meet defined needs. Presents recommendations to management. Prepares and conducts comprehensive system and programming needs. Develops and maintains standards, process improvements and documentation.
    • Communicates with and trains internal and external clients. May teach formal or informal courses on programming or related technical topics. May provide project leadership, direction and/or training to lower level staff. Operates with substantial latitude for un-reviewed action or decision.
    • Install, configure, and maintain operating system components, application servers, and libraries that support software development.Required QualificationsMinimum 5 years of experience with UT systems (Natural / Adabas, CMP, Python/Django, Oracle). Demonstrated ability to analyze, test, and debug complex code. Experience eliciting and documenting functional and technical software requirements, developing scope statements and time estimates. Experience consulting with other IT professionals to develop innovative solutions to technical and process-related issues. Excellent communication skills fostering positive client/stakeholder relationships and collaborative solutions to software needs. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively, in a team-oriented environment. Knowledge of current developments in business and systems analysis, systems design and programming, and database concepts. Self-managed and highly motivated with a strong drive for delivering high quality results.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field. Experience working with a variety of groups and organizational levels. Experience with UT Austin administrative systems. Familiarity with UT student and admissions systems and data.
