Job Duties
Raba Kistner is seeking a dependable Senior Construction Inspector
MOT to join our Infrastructure team in the greater Austin area.
This individual will inspect and oversee construction activities
related to Maintenance of Traffic to ensure compliance with project
plans, approved shop/working drawings, project documents and
specifications. They will report orally and in writing to direct
report on progress and delays of tasks. Responsibilities
include:
Inspect and/or oversee inspection of lane closures for compliance
with approved Traffic Control Plans and MUTCD
Perform daily inspection of traffic control devices including
signage, barrier, striping, channeling devices, etc.
Perform bi-monthly Traffic Control Device Inspection in accordance
with TxDOT form 599 requirements.
Contact assigned direct report for priorities and deadlines for
assigned tasks and work to meet them.
Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive, and complete
inspection reports on a daily basis in accordance with established
quality procedures.
Review plans, specifications, general notes, and shop/working
drawings for assigned activities prior to performing assigned
duties.
Train less experience workers on work methods.
Serve as lead worker for less experienced workers.
Assist Direct Report in planning and coordinating inspection
operations.
Meet with contractor's supervisors or other project leaders on
assigned project sites to discuss and coordinate inspection of
construction MOT.
Assign work priority tasks to assigned inspector(s)
Maintain certifications at the time of employment or that are
obtained during employment.
Provide input in evaluations of employee performance.Understand,
adhere, and participate in the Raba Kistner Health & Safety and BBS
Programs, setting a good example of our safety standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required. A person in this position
generally, but not necessarily has a minimum of 20 years'
experience in roadway and related facilities. ATSAA Traffic control
Supervisor (or equivalent) certification. Related experience and/or
education may be evaluated to substitute. Successful applicants
without the above certifications or training may be required to
pursue successful attainment of the certifications. Related
experience may be substituted with the approval of the client.
Extensive knowledge of the State specific Manual of Uniform Traffic
control Devices or National Manual of Uniform Traffic control
Devices approved by the Federal Highway Administrator as the
National Standard. Knowledge of materials and devices used in
highway MOT as well as construction project document auditing
techniques. Able to apply engineering principles. Good oral and
written communications skills and ability to work in teams at
different levels within the organization. Intermediate in Microsoft
Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Must be self-motivated
with good attendance record and be able to work effectively with
internal and external personnel. Able to analyze, problem-solve,
and recommend solutions.
Possess a valid driver's license within the applicable jurisdiction
and meet firm's auto insurability requirements. Practice safe usage
and maintenance of individually assigned company vehicle and field
equipment including use within company policy. Able to travel to
project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain and work
under exposure to inclement weather conditions.

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is
regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop,

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, focus vision
and depth vision. The noise level in the work environment is
usually moderate to loud.
Potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction
or roadway sites; potential exposure to hazardous dangerous
chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils,
radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; all of which would
require employee to follow proper safety procedures and utilize
appropriate protective equipment. May use hand tools such as
sledgehammers, shovels, and picks.
This position may require protracted or irregular hours.
Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client
needs.
