Job Posting Title:Data Analyst-Hiring Department:College of Pharmacy-Position Open To:All Applicants-Weekly Scheduled Hours:40-FLSA Status:Exempt-Earliest Start Date:Immediately-Position Duration:Expected to Continue Until Dec 31, 2021-Location:UT MAIN CAMPUS-Job Description:Under the supervision of Dr. Sandipan Bhattacharjee, will be conducting data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high quality prediction systems integrated with large health care datasets.-Job Details:General NotesInitial appointment will be for 12 month with the possibility for renewal based on available funding.Responsibilities

  • Perform healthcare data management of TxCORE data assets using SAS, R, STATA, and SQL
  • Enhance data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems
  • Develop and implement programs to process and manipulate large healthcare datasets
  • Provide data programming and analytic support on a range of quantitative and qualitative research projects
  • Prepare abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts independently or in collaboration with research teams
  • Support study design and data analysis plan development for quantitative and qualitative study proposals and grant applications
  • Develop statistical programming code in SAS, R, STATA, and SQL
  • Conduct data mining and machine learning using state-of-the-art methods
  • Conduct and participate in study review and data security and quality monitoring
  • Prepare study reports with both tabular and graphical data visualization presentations
  • Support educational opportunities to help researchers and students become more effective at study design, data management and study analysis
  • Effectively manage the statistical and data analytic components of studies in collaboration with researchers
  • Assure research staff are compliant with HIPAA regulations and other federal confidentiality standards
  • Participate in research team meetings and recommend opportunities for effective study managementRequired QualificationsMS-level degree in biostatistics or statistics, data science, or health services research-related fields. Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms (e.g., Na--ve Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.). Experience with data manipulation, data mining and data analysis using SAS. Experience with common data science and statistical toolkits, such as R, Python, MatLab, etc. Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL. Experienced in applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc. Strong problem solving skills, adaptability, and critical thinking. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong teamwork skills. Strong knowledge of a data presentation/visualization software/tool (e.g., R, Python, Tableau, D3.js, GGplot etc.).Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsPhD-level degree in biostatistics or statistics, data science, or health services research-related fields. 2-3 years of experience analyzing large healthcare datasets (such as claims data, EHR) using SAS. Demonstrated experience of implementing machine learning techniques in projects that have been published in peer-reviewed journals or presented at national/international conferences. Collaborative experience in biomedical and public health research.Salary Range$65,000 + depending on qualificationsWorking Conditions
