Field Support Representative

Location: Austin, TX
Duration: 5-6 months

Description:
What youll be doing:
Operating a vehicle manually (non-autonomous) primarily in pairs of two, alternating driver and passenger roles.
You and a partner will respond to situations in the field in which AVs are unable to continue autonomous operations
In partnership with remote stakeholders, you will triage, recover, and/or retrieve AVs, but not limited to placing the AV back into service or returning it to base, and/or customer interaction when necessary, liaising with other parties onsite (including customers, first responders, law enforcement, and tow truck operators)
Documenting the scene and gathering reportable information
Working with the Customer Support and Vehicle Service teams to delight passengers and return vehicles to service following on-road events
Leading the launch and land functions of deploying and returning autonomous vehicles during driverless operations for egress and ingress, including operational safety checks
Operating an autonomous vehicle in both autonomous and manual modes, with and without occupants, and assisting in cleaning, charging, and other functions to support fleet operations
Participate in the ongoing training and mentoring of new Field Support Representatives
Perform ad hoc projects as needed, including those in support of AV testing, delivery and other community support and/or pilots

What you must have:
Prioritize safety and maintain a safety-first mindset, while following all safe work practices and policies
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, including interacting with the public
Ability to remain alert and extremely focused for uninterrupted blocks of time
Accurately type and read on a laptop in a moving vehicle
Ability to give and receive clear, prompt, and understandable verbal and written communications
High attention to detail
Safely operate in accordance with Client safety protocols and applicable law.
This includes, but is not limited to: having a sufficient range of motion to frequently turn a steering wheel, operate the accelerator and brake, check blind spots and evaluate the environment, and maintaining appropriate air bag clearance
Regularly perform physical work including, but not limited to, stooping, lifting, and moving up to 30 pounds, and walking up and down flights of stairs

Bonus points
One year of customer service experience strongly preferred
Three months of AVTO (post-OJT) experience preferred
Operational experience with a large, 24/7 business
Mobility or transportation experience, particularly with a large fleet
Entrepreneurial experience/ownership mentality or other innovation history
Enthusiasm for the potential of autonomous driving to move life forward in our cities and improve road safety
