Job Summary/Overview

To support this buildout, the Metrology department at Samsung is looking for passionate, highly motivated, self-directed individuals to be a part of this historic fab startup opportunity.

About Samsung Metrology:
In Metrology, we provide accurate and timely measurements to all operational (MFG/UP/PIE) and support groups (Device, QA, FA, and ME) across Samsung. Joining our team, you will work with amazing technical staff using state-of-the-art equipment to create amazing products and solve nanoscale problems.
Target Job Role: Senior Engineer - Thickness and Concentration Applications - Team Representative (TR)
Description: The Thickness and Concentration Applications TR will lead a team of technicians and engineers at Samsung's new fab in Taylor, TX.

Candidate will plan, organize, and drive timely team deliverables while maintaining quality in their process area. Clear communication and flexibility will be required in the rapidly changing fab startup environment. To achieve success in the overall mission, the TR candidate will also be attentive to customer and direct report needs, while maintaining alignment with senior management. After a successful fab startup, the candidate will be responsible for leveraging deep technical knowledge and people management skills to oversee longer-term projects, daily operations, and their direct report's progress. Candidates must be passionate about growing their people, ensuring the highest data quality across their toolsets, identifying improvement opportunities, and creating defense lines to prevent excursions and maximize production yields.

Specific Job Duties

  • Plan, organize, and drive team deliverables for Taylor fab startup success.
  • Manage non-exempt and exempt personnel in the "team representative (TR)" role
  • Manage and work on complex projects (may be cross-functional) that require proper documentation, baseline consideration, change point management, and an in-depth evaluation of multiple competing factors
  • Provide daily monitoring, direction, and feedback to direct reports
  • Encourage ongoing career development, mentorship, and training opportunities
  • Facilitate annual performance management
  • Communicate effectively with personnel and other technical leaders inside and outside their organization on technical projects, incidents, or changes.
  • Influence technical decision making with data and technical expertise in their process area.
  • Report results to management clearly, concisely and in a timely manner.
  • Encourage a safety-first, and a continuous improvement culture. Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required
    • Minimum Four-Year Bachelor of Science degree in related field (Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, etc.).
    • 5+ year experience in the semiconductor industry required.
    • 5+ year experience with Optical Thickness & Concentration tools required.
    • Experience with VR300DS, A300, MetaPulse, ThermalWave, XPS (Veraflex), KLA Spectroscopic Ellipsometers (KLA Aleris/F1) preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, and Tools: List MOST important requirements first. Then, list soft skills desired (but not required), experience:
      • Strong problem-solving skills
      • Strong attention to detail
      • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
      • Able to analyze, interpret and present data
      • Able to deal with ambiguity
      • Able to prioritize large workloads on a daily basis
      • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power point
      • Self-starter with a continuous improvement attitude
      • Familiarity with some computer programming (Java, C++, Python, R, Visual Basic, MATLAB etc.) preferred
      • Six Sigma or ISO training preferred
