Adjutant General of Texas, the states senior military official
appointed by the governor, and is comprised of the Texas Military
Department (State Federal Civilian Employees), the Texas Army
National Guard (TXARNG), the Texas Air National Guard (TXANG)andthe

authorities at home and abroad. BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY Performs
complex (journey-level) law enforcement and security work
safeguarding priority resources, buildings, personnel, property and
other equipment belonging to the Department of Defense (DoD), Texas
Army National Guard (TXARNG), Texas Air National Guard (TXANG) and
the Texas Military Department. Patrols and guards property against
loss or damage from fire, theft, vandalism, accident, or trespass;
maintaining order and protecting life. Reports to the Shift Senior
Security Officer, and works under general supervision with moderate
latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Work
Schedule: Shift Work, 40 Hours a week ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND
RESPONSIBILITIES Works with the general public on a daily basis
issuing visitor passes, giving directions and receiving and/or
reporting complaints. Acts as Base Courtesy Ambassador for base
populous and general public. Evaluates and makes recommendations on
matters of safety and security. Performs duties as the Installation
Entry Controller. Directs traffic or performs crowd control.
Patrols base to protect against suspicious activity. Reports all
emergencies, accidents and incidents to upper management. Performs
after-duty hour checks of buildings and alarmed facilities.
Apprehends suspects under supervision. Assists military, federal
and local law enforcement agencies during VIP visits. Prepares
detailed incident/accident reports. Obtains statements from
witnesses and complainants. Performs first aid. Participates in all
mandatory training on security and law enforcement duties and
responsibilities. Participates in training consisting of a local
indoctrination (phase I), on-the-job training (phase II), and other
trainings deemed necessar by supervisor. Performs other duties as
assigned by supervisory and training personnel (military or state
personnel). Attends work regularly and observes approved work hours
in accordance with agency state employee policies procedures
handbook. May be required to perform duty in support of national
emergencies, disasters, and other missions, to include working
evenings, weekends or holidays. Qualifications: MINIMIUM
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Graduation from a standard senior high
school or equivalent is required. High school diploma and/or
transcript from institute of higher education must be furnished to
HR upon employee orientation. EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience
as a peace officer, security officer or military law enforcement is
required. Experience using Microsoft Office (such as Outlook, Word,
or Excel) is required. REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE:
Valid drivers license is required. *Texas Drivers License will be
required within first 30 days of employment. Satisfactory driving
records are required for driving state or personal vehicles to
conduct agency business. Copy of DL must be furnished to HR upon
employee orientation. Must be able to obtain a valid Level III
Commissioned Officer License issued by Texas Department of Public
Safety (DPS) Private Security Bureau (PSB) within 6 months of hire.
(Preferred at the time of hire). OTHER REQUIREMENTS Minimum
standards for employment with Texas Military Department Security
Force consist of the following. Failure to maintain standards may
be cause for termination. Must be flexible for shift work; weekdays
and/or weekend shifts. Selected candidate must pass federal
security background investigation. The process includes a National
Agency Check with local records and credit check (NACLC) and
fingerprinting. New employees must complete and sign the Office of
Personnel Management (OPM) Form SF85. Completed forms are submitted
to the OPM for the background investigations. Selected candidates
are required to sign a confidentiality agreement not to disclose
For Official Use Only (FOUO) information to unauthorized persons.
(OPSEC) Selected candidates may be required to perform work at
different locations to meet business need. Extended work hours may
be required without notice. The Immigration Reform and Control Act
of 1986 requires all new employees to present proof of eligibility
to work in the United States within three (3) days of being hired.
The Texas Military Department participates in E-Verify and will
provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and, if necessary,
the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with information from
each new employees Form I-9 to confirm work authorization. Upon
hire with the State of Texas, males between the ages of 18 through
25 must provide proof of registration or exemption with the
