NotesThis position is located at the J.J. Pickle Research Campus in
North Austin.PurposeAs part of a multi-disciplinary, integrated
research team, the candidate will conduct hydrogeological and
applied reservoir engineering research, with a focus on Texas, but
with applications to other regions in the US and the world. The
candidate will use his/her expertise to work with geophysical,
geologic, petrophysical and geomodeling staff to develop
single-well to basin-scale reservoir fluid flow models which
incorporate injection, production, multi-phase flow, well test
data, geological heterogeneities and anisotropic elements such as
faults and fractures, and geomechanical effect using various
modeling platforms.Responsibilities
- Compile engineering and hydrogeological data. Model subsurface
flow from reservoir-sized domains to regional aquifers. Develop
application and mitigation strategies.
- Resent research results to funding agencies, report results of
research in journal articles and books, and present results at
professional meetings.
- Engage in outside funding activities and promote program with
stakeholders.
- Provide service to professional societies, the Bureau of
Economic Geology and the Jackson School of Geosciences. Serve on
committees as neededRequired QualificationsMS or PhD in
geosciences, petroleum engineering or related technical discipline.
Two or more years work experience with Master's degree or PhD
degree. Ability and desire to work in diverse, multi-disciplinary,
integrated research teams. Record of scientific publication in
international journals, research performance, and professional
achievement commensurate with experience. Professional demeanor and
excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal
skills.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as
appropriate.Preferred QualificationsPhD level. Five or more years
work experience with Master's degree or two years with PhD degree.
Previous experience with CMG software suite and Petrel. Background
on shallow and deep hydrogeological processes and knowledge of
multiphase flow and hands-on experience in fluid flow modeling,
well test analysis, analyzing and manipulating flow model data
inputs, and relating these data to dynamic changes in the
subsurface including pore pressure evolution, stress change,
deformation, and fault reactivation. Salary Range$65,000 +
depending on qualificationsWorking Conditions
