*Job Summary*Through collaborative partnerships with UFCU management, the Associate Regulatory Compliance Specialist ("Associate Specialist") is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and updating programs to ensure UFCU is in compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations. Assists in daily compliance with Banking Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), and other banking and lending laws and regulations. Helps to maintain and operate the electronic compliance management system; helps facilitate the annual National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) exam; and is responsible for tracking and working with staff to complete all relevant and required compliance training.*About UFCU*As Austin's largest locally-owned financial institution, University Federal Credit Union is a financial institution owned by, dedicated to, and always working for our Members. If you want to love what you do, make an impact in your community, and have the power to help people change their lives - then we're glad you're here.*Essential Functions ** Oversee processes to comply with BSA/OFAC regulations, including:* Verification and documentation to identity of prospective members* Review and file CTRs* Review and file SARs* Track and follow-up on compliance training for all employees and work with staff to ensure timely completion* Maintain appropriate BSA records in line with Federal Regulations* Monitor changes in legal requirements concerning the Bank Secrecy Act and other applicable banking laws and regulations, and recommend changes to the Senior Compliance Specialist as needed* Assist with annually required independent testing of the Bank Secrecy Act and other areas as needed* Monitor cash and suspicious transactions daily to ensure CTRs and SARs are filed correctly and timely* Timely review all high risk accounts for compliance red flags and take action on compliance issues as appropriate* Perform member due diligence with care and great attention* Run OFAC reports timely and with great care and attention to detail* Assist in presenting regulatory compliance training to new hires* Assist in facilitating an annual NCUA exam* Assist in compiling Management Response to Exam Findings, and follow-up throughout the year to ensure response action is completed* Assist to establish, maintain, and update the compliance management system:* Track task completion* Send follow-up emails* Work with the Compliance Council and Subcommittees on new compliance items that impact the credit union* Track policy review time-frames* Make appropriate updates in the compliance management system* Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes* Complete required regulatory training as assigned* Maintain strict adherence and compliance to all laws, rules, regulations and internal controls specific to your role, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and Fair Lending regulations* Perform other compliance and organizational development related duties as assigned*Knowledge/Skills/Abilities ** Knowledge of federally insured financial institutions, laws, regulations and NCUA rules and regulations* Effective spoken and written communication skills* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook* Computer literacy and ability to research online* Ability to find, access, interpret, and communicate regulatory requirements* General understanding of economics, law, and business fundamentals* Good interpersonal skills to perform job duties with professionalism and diplomacy* Ability to build collaborative relationships* Ability to maintain a strong sense of reliability and accountability*Competencies ** Building Member Loyalty* Building Partnerships* Communication* Emotional Intelligence* Adaptability* Focus on Results* Decision Making*Experience **Minimum Requirements ** Three (3) years of financial institution BSA experience required* Experience with BSA/AML software* Must be bondable* Receive CUNA BSA accredited within first year of date of hire*Preferred Requirements** Experience with Symitar* Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Business Administration degree* Experience with Verafin*Things You Need to Know Before You Apply**Physical Demands*The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee in order to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
