The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), a Certified Best Place for Working Parents, is seeking an Investigator I - IIIito join the Labor Law InvestigationsiDepartment. These positions are eligible for telecommuting from anywhere in the state of Texas.iThe ideal candidate must have a secure, dedicated workspace with Internet service, ability to maintain a reliable consistent work schedule and be available for weekly meetings and group collaboration via Microsoft Teams and other applications during regular business hours.iiMay be required, upon occasion, to come into the office in Austin with 72-hour notice for any TWC business need.Benefits to working for TWC include:- Competitive starting salary: $2,496.90-i$3,055.32/month- Defined Retirement Benefit Plan- Optional 401(k) and 457 accounts- Medical Insurance - Currently, the state pays 100% of the health plan premium for eligible full-time employees and 50% of the premium for their eligible dependents. Eligible part-time employees get a 50% state contribution for themselves and 25% for their dependents. Work involves conducting investigations. Works under close to general supervision, with minimal to limitedilatitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.GENERAL DUTIES:- Conducts investigations to determine if wages were properly made.- Evaluates and summarizes findings.- Examines, reviews, and audits wage records.- Investigates wage claim issues as needed.- Uses personal computer to data enter decisions, record decisions, and document case information to the Payday System.- Responds to oral and written inquiries from claimants, employers, and agency staff to provide customer support in a busy work environment.- Reviews investigative techniques and recommends improvements as appropriate.- Works quickly, performs multiple tasks, pays attention to detail, and adheres to work schedules and strict deadlines.- Works in a highly stressful environment.- Performs heavy telephone contact with public utilizing strong interviewing and communication skills.- Treats customers with courtesy and respect as well as handles hostile customers in a professional manner.- May participate in projects.- Performs other duties as assigned.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Recent Labor Law experience and knowledge of wage regulations- Investigation experience- Bilingual; Spanish/EnglishMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- InvestigatoriI: Successful completion of 90 semester hours of accredited college work.- InvestigatoriII: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.-iInvestigatoriIII: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university plus one year of full-time experience performing auditing or investigating work; or unemployment insurance claims examiner tasks; or gathering of information, interviewing, counseling or in the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise.i- For all Levels:iOne year of full-time experience performing auditing or investigating work; or unemployment insurance claims examiner tasks; or gathering of information, interviewing, counseling, or in the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of education.Duty involves up to 10% travel within the state of Texas and the ability to lift 5-10ipounds.VETERANS:Use your military skills to qualify for this position or other jobs!
