Job Description:
MISSION: -The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will improve outcomes
for all public-school students in the state by providing
leadership, guidance, and support to school systems.
POSITION OVERVIEW: -The Research Specialist will play a key role in
providing stakeholders with data necessary to improve outcomes for
Texas students. This position conducts data analysis, research, and
reporting for the division. The Research Specialist researches
accountability rating appeals and documents findings. The position
participates in the development and publication of web content,
division products, and federal and state accountability policy
discussions. The position provides technical assistance as well as
training to ensure that ESCs, district staff, and other
stakeholders understand and benefit from the accountability system.
-The Research Specialist creates user-friendly reports appropriate
for stakeholders and fulfills yearly and biennial reporting needs.
This position acts as a resource for policy, communications,
special projects, and ah-hoc requests for the division. -
The Research Specialist duties include performing highly advanced
consultative services and technical assistance work related to
federal and state accountability policy, legislative requests, and
TEA guidance.
The position works under minimal supervision, with considerable
latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment for
supporting improved student outcomes.

Qualifications
-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: -Education: -Graduation from an accredited
four-year college or university.
Experience: -At least three (3) years of experience in public
school accountability, technical writing, or in working with a
program that required outreach, training, and ensuring the
understanding of the program by its stakeholders. -
Substitutions: -Education and experience may substitute for one
