Ascension Rx is looking for a Specialty Pharmacy Technician to support our new Specialty Pharmacy.

Our facility will be opening early in 2021!

 

Full Time | Day | Austin, TX

What You Will Do:

Ascension Rx is looking for a Specialty Pharmacy Technician to support our new Specialty Pharmacy. You will be responsible for providing distributive pharmacy services and technical support to the pharmacist. 

  • Process prescriptions accurately and timely in all pharmacy application systems

    • Ensure accurate data entry of prescription 

    • Oversee, monitor, and complete all workflow steps in a timely manner

    • Assist the team in complete and accurate insurance and credit card billing. 

  • Assist patients with prescriptions in a call center/fulfillment center setting.

    • Prepares and dispenses prescription orders in accordance with all legal requirements, regulatory/accreditation agencies, and organization’s policies

    • Professionally manages concerns within scope of practice and collaborates with the healthcare team upon escalation.

    • Listens to patient requests and makes reasonable accommodations where aligned with department capabilities. 

  • Coordinates and ensures appropriate medication delivery.

    • Coordinates and follows up on the delivery of medication and supplies

    • Finalizes order processing and very proper information per organization’s policies and procedures. 

  • Establish patient accounts within the Specialty Pharmacy

    • Establish a complete  and accurate patient profile within the prescription processing system 

    • Perform insurance benefit’s investigation on behalf of the patient and accurately enter information in the patient management system

  • Serve as a patient financial advocate to remove financial barriers to treatment.

    • Work as a liaison between patients, prescribers, and third party companies

    • Determine patient financial needs and investigate available financial assistance through drug manufacturer and foundation programs

    • Enroll, or assist patients in enrolling, in assistance programs

    • Reach out to patients to introduce them to the pharmacy and provide details surrounding financial obligations

  • Maintain a working knowledge of third party payors and prior authorization requirements

    • Contact insurance carriers, benefits offices, and patients to determine new and ongoing coverage levels

    • Complete necessary paperwork to submit prior authorization requests to third party payors 

    • Monitor prior authorization status to ensure timely delivery of medications

    • Work with clinical team to assist prescribers with the appeals process for prior authorization denials where appropriate

  • Process prescriptions accurately and timely in all pharmacy application systems

    • Ensure accurate data entry of prescription information in both the pharmacy processing as well as patient management systems

    • Oversee, monitor, and complete all workflow steps in a timely manner

    • Prepare and dispense prescription orders in accordance with all legal requirements, accreditation agency guidelines, and organization policies and procedures 

  • Assist patients with prescriptions in a call center setting

    • Make refill adherence calls and accurately set up medication delivery 

    • Provide exceptional customer service for every patient, every time

What You Will Need:
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • One or more of the following required:
    • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
    • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required
