Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator, you will serve as the primary decision maker for clinical and managerial operations and workflow during a given shift. As a Registered Nurse, you may assume care responsibilities for patients on the unit if needed. Unlock the possibilities in your nursing career by joining a team that cares like family.

* Assist in the program development of ECMO and VAD

* Attend and participate in facility meetings

* Assists in the overall operation of the hospital through active participation in projects aimed at achieving the

hospital’s mission and incorporates the values of the hospital in day-to-day activities

* Assists in the selection of equipment and supplies used to care for ECMO/VAD patients, with goals of quality and

cost efficiency

* Coordinates and guides pre-MCS patient visits

* Conducts evaluation of patients who are being worked-up for MCS to assess their candidacy

* Appropriately coordinate any additional testing and work-up needed prior to implant

* Primary responsibility for completing pre-MCS checklist

* Assists with Plans, coordinates and implements the care of the ECMO, heart failure patient and the pre- and post-

VAD patient, as applicable, in both the in-patient and outpatient settings in accordance with the nursing process. This

will include Case Management duties as required

* Acts as a liaison with the heart failure patient population and other care providers in the hospital and in the

community in order to match patient clinical needs to program/procedural offerings

* Assist in the coordination of information flow among medical, ancillary, nursing, financial and insurance company


* Assist in the representation of the heart failure, VAD and ECMO programs through involvement in hospital and

community activities



* Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience

* 1 year of experience in management of organ failure/transplant/VAD/ECMO patients preferred 


* Associate Degree in Nursing - Must enroll in a RN to BSN program within fist year of employment, and graduate with BSN within 3 years of enrollment date

* Bachelor's Degree in Nursing - preferred

License and Certifications

* Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. Must have current state licensure within 90 days of employment

* Basic Life Support (BLS) required as per St. David’s Healthcare policy

* Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
