Dell Seton Medical Center at University of Texas at Austin is an academic hospital, a Level I Trauma Center for adults with 226 beds located in the new health district in downtown Austin, Texas.

What You Will Do:

Patient Experience Manager

Job Summary: The Manager, Patient Experience is responsible for improving outcomes in the patient and family experience and providing necessary support to enable a culture of excellence. This position is responsible for both leading and supporting Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas in the hospital setting (Inpatient, ED, OR, Support and Ancillary Services) patient experience efforts and ensuring alignment with overall network goals, physician groups, and organizational strategies. The Manager, Patient Experience has leadership responsibility for closely monitoring patient and family experience through all available resources, including but not limited to the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) and other available patient experience surveys.


  • Develops, implements and leads the hardwiring of tactics and evidence-based practices to improve patient and family experience. Manages strategies and plans that achieve performance improvements in the patient experience. 
  • High visibility within the hospital setting to include consistent rounding with patients and clinical staff.
  • Works collaboratively with physicians, staff, leaders and patient/family to implement strategies that drive and support patient experience improvement initiatives for targeted areas. 
  • Collaborate with leadership and Navigators to identify and mitigate barriers as identified through patient complaints. 
  • Analyze metrics and other performance analytics to track and monitor performance trends, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop and implement recommended action plans including competency validation to improve the patient experience and present relevant information to key stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with others, develops and executes assigned projects and programs by creating and executing project work plans. 
  • Works in a highly collaborative environment with other leaders, providers and front line staff to cultivate influence and drive change. 
  • Provides coaching or training, when necessary, to establish a strong support strategy.
  • Researches best practices, market trends and other relevant factors impacting patient and family experience
  • Maintains timely, effective communication with organizational leadership regarding all events or proposed changes which might impact regulatory issues, policies or procedures.
  • Develops a strong partnership with survey vendor, clinic leaders, RN managers, providers and staff.
  • Ensures alignment with network initiatives and goals.
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to quickly resolve issues and concerns.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
What You Will Need:


  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.

Work Experience:

  • 3 years of experience required.
  • 5 years of experience preferred.
  • 1 year of leadership or management experience preferred.
