Your Role and Responsibilities

In this Salesforce Marketing Cloud Architect role, you will make an immediate impact by performing the following functions:

  • Translate business requirements/user stories into a practical, scalable solution that leverages the functionality and best practices of the chosen marketing automation system
  • Lead onsite client workshops to share IBM's marketing automation framework, best practices, and case studies
  • Understand the technical depth of the project and validate the correct resources for the project
  • Promote best practice-driven solutions and integrated applications to reduce costs and improve adoption
  • Write solution documentation and specifications jointly with the technical architect to create a consensus-based, scalable, adaptable enterprise solution in sync with client needs and strategies
  • Support practice development initiatives, training, and internal thought leadership
  • Work with clients to shape marketing automation system design and strategy and define and scope projects to address specific needs
  • Provide subject matter expertise to internal teams during sales and delivery processes
  • Keep up-to-date on latest industry trends and research to share with clients, drive practice development, training, and thought leadership, and develop best practices

Our SFMC Architect is often the development team leader. As such, they are often expected to provide motivation and guidance to the entire development team throughout the complete systems development life cycle. We need someone who is motivated and motivating, detailed, and has a true enthusiasm for creating memorable experiences for our clients.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 4-6 years of experience in marketing, technology, and/or consulting with at least 3 years of hands-on experience with Marketing Cloud, including familiarity the Connector, Journey Builder, Email, Mobile and Social Studios.
  • At least 3 years of consulting and/or client facing roles
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to distill business requirements into solution architecture and system design across marketing and sales systems
  • Strong knowledge of business modeling and process documentation
  • Advanced understanding of marketing automation technology including the SFMC and SFDC ecosystem, data models, and common integration points with marketing systems and third-party technology solutions.
  • Understanding of relational database concepts, ETL processes, data management and segmentation best practices
  • Ability to lead and facilitate workshops, technical and functional requirements gathering, and design sessions
  • Demonstrated ability to architect, build and execute data feeds, platform configuration, and components needed to run complex multi channel marketing automations and related reporting & analytics
  • Knowledge of API integration with CRM platforms and Web properties
  • Hands on experience with email and landing page development, including templates, modular and responsive design
  • Understanding of agile and waterfall development practices
  • Team leadership experience managing resources responsible for marketing automation projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including technical documentation and the ability to conceptualize and communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Certified in Salesforce Marketing Cloud and/or Marketing Cloud Consultant is preferred, but not required
  • Experience with front-end development, Pipelines, JS Controllers, Demandware Script, script debugging, troubleshooting, and performance management
  • Development experience using HTML/CSS, MJML, Ampscript, Java, JavaScript, jQuery, SQL
