The University of Texas at Austin Staff JobsUT MAIN CAMPUSJob Posting Title:Director for Restorative Justice Practices----Hiring Department:Office for Inclusion and Equity----Position Open To:All Applicants----Weekly Scheduled Hours:40----FLSA Status:Exempt----Earliest Start Date:May 03, 2021----Position Duration:Expected to Continue----Location:UT MAIN CAMPUS----Job Description:----Job Details:General NotesReporting to the associate vice president, the director for restorative justice practices will have primary responsibility for implementing university-wide restorative practices, including delivering restorative services to faculty, staff, and students. The director will also provide coaching and technical support to the Office for Inclusion and Equity (OIE) in the successful implementation and practice of restorative justice.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, coordinate and implement a comprehensive restorative justice practices program. Provide training, modeling, consultation, coaching, & technical support to the campus community in facilitation of university-wide restorative practices. Facilitate, co-facilitate, or support restorative service offerings, including restorative conferences, restorative conversations (chats), community building circles, peer circles, entry/re-entry circles, peacemaking circles (conflict resolution), circles of support, and accountability circles, etc.Conduct intake assessments prepare participants, collaborate with campus partners, send confirmation notices, facilitate processes, develop agreed-upon plans, and conduct follow-up. Maintain appropriate case files and program data, manage case progression, and coordinate referrals.Develop, schedule, implement, and host regular events and training sessions across the university to inform students, faculty, and staff about restorative practices and other topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Create, maintain, and enhance DEI resources (articles, books, podcasts, etc.).Serve as a member of the office leadership team and collaborate with others on developing and administering programs, policies, and procedures enforced by OIE; collaborate with others on outreach efforts on campus and in the greater Austin community. Serve on and lead appropriate campus committees.Required QualificationsMaster's degree in social work, counseling, education, conflict management, or six years of related experience. Demonstrated experience creating, managing, and delivering high-quality, comprehensive restorative justice programming. Recent professional development and awareness of trends in best practices in educational equity and cultural responsiveness. Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and interact with culturally diverse groups at all organizational levels. Strong written and oral communication; listens well and can easily facilitate group discussions/teaching/training. Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment. Must have a strong focus on attention to detail and accuracy. Possess strong organizational skills to prioritize and achieve deadlines on multiple projects effectively. Demonstrate strong presentation and public speaking skills. Aptitude for building supportive relationships and networks within the university and the wider community.Preferred QualificationsTerminal degree in social work and two years of professional experience leading comprehensive restorative justice programming in a higher education setting. Certification/training and experience in dispute resolution, mediation or conciliation, arbitration, reflective listening, employee relations, or other alternative (adaptive) resolution practices. Demonstrable success in implementing DEI initiatives in the workplace and fostering a climate of belonging.
