Recreation or Music Therapist
Ascension Seton Shoal Creek Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital
Shift: PRN-Saturday and Sunday 9am-5pm; option for occasional
weekday or outpatient shifts
Ascension Seton Shoal Creek provides a continuum of psychiatric
services for adults, including inpatient, partial hospitalization,
and intensive outpatient programs. Shoal Creek's inpatient program
provides acute-care, interdisciplinary psychiatric stabilization
for adults experiencing a mental health crisis. The Expressive
Therapy Team at Shoal Creek offers a variety of activity-based
therapeutic modalities. As a member of the Shoal Creek ET Team, you
will conduct expressive therapy assessments, facilitate
activity-based group therapy sessions, and provide discharge
recommendations for continuing treatment for patients with thought,
mood, personality, and/or substance use disorders.
Preferred candidates for this position will be engaging,
self-motivated, and able to actively manage potentially challenging
behaviors as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
Experience with acute-care psychiatric patients is not required,
and training will be provided. Must have weekend availability.
What You Will Do
Develop and implement activity therapy treatment plans.
+ Conduct patient assessments and establish recreational/leisure
therapy treatment goals.
+ Evaluate each patient's progress and the effectiveness of
recreational/leisure therapy interventions.
+ Coordinate therapeutic recreational/leisure activities for
both large and small groups. Observe patient response and encourage
+ Provide patient with information regarding resources and
therapeutic recreational/leisure activities in the community.
What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
+ BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association
(AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job
transfer date required.
+ Therapist specializing in Recreation preferred.
+ High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or
Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.
