Position Description

Float Pool:  Med/Surg - Floats between 4 Med/Surg units - Renal, Robotics, Orthopedics and Neurology   Position Description Responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients with a broad range of illnesses.

The RN is involved in direct and indirect patient care. The RN provides direction to other non-licensed nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. The staff nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the hospital. In collaboration with other health team members, follows the philosophy, policies and goals of the facility and department.

St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, which is part ofSt. David’s HealthCare, is a 425-bed multi-specialty, acute care facilitydedicated to the highest level of women’s health services, including maternityand newborn care with Level I, II and III nurseries at the adjacent St. David’sWomen’s Center of Texas. The facility also features a 24-hour emergencydepartment, the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery, the Bariatric Center,Heart and Vascular Center, neurology and neurosurgery, a kidney transplantprogram, inpatient and outpatient surgery and acute inpatient and outpatientrehabilitation, among many others. St. David’s North Austin Medical Center isalso home to St. David’s Children’s Hospital. St. David’s Surgical Hospital,which opened in October 2016, is a campus of St. David’s North Austin MedicalCenter.

Qualifications

License/Certification

Required : Current Texas RN license; BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers; ACLS Certification

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

Required:        Graduate from an accredited nursing programor current enrollment in an Alternative Entry MSN program; Minimum of two yearsdirect inpatient nursing care with current competencies in a minimum of twospecialty units

Preferred:          Bachelor’s or higher level Degree; Previous clinical experience in medicalsurgical specialty unit and adult intensive care unit (ICU)
