As a senior member of the Flex Health Solutions leadership team,
the Health Solutions, Chief Technology Officer —located in San
Jose, CA or Austin, TX (other locations considered)—will lead the
innovation activities within Flex Health Solutions. The CTO will
have overall responsibility for leading a world-class customer
product design services organization with complete P&L
ownership; providing strategic innovation direction to the Health
Solutions business; positioning Flex Health Solutions as a thought
leader in medical technology at trade shows/ conferences and with
customers. Additionally, the position will require extensive
interaction and strong liaison activities with internal management
teams as well as externally with customers.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:
Lead Design Services Organization:
Manage the $100M annual revenue business to deliver appropriate
levels of profit.
Develop and execute an engineering/technical Health Solutions
business plan to support achieving quarterly and annual enterprise
investment, cash flow, and P&L objectives ensuring budget,
schedules and performance indicators meet corporate guidelines.
Develop engineering/technical strategy, associated KPI
dashboard, and continuously improve methods, systems and processes
in a complex and rapidly changing environment to improve customer
satisfaction and ensure continuous processes improvement in support
of profitable execution of high growth businesses.
Partner with operations leaders to ensure engineering & design
activities are well integrated with manufacturing operations
including the use of design for manufacturability principles.
Leverage personal engineering/technical experience to support
the full product lifecycle and new product introduction in a
complex product culture.
Provide technical and strategic guidance to subordinate
directors to ensure achievement of goals and objectives.
Ensure the Health Solutions organization has the right
engineering/technical people, processes, and systems in place to
ensure the organization's ability to profitably deliver on its
customer commitments and quality expectations.
Continue to improve measure and strive for world-class quality
via engineering/technical processes, methodologies and rigorous
quality control system requirements.
Continuously review and put strategies in place to improve
existing processes and champion implementation of new initiatives
across the organization’s regulatory function to ensure
consistency, compliance and best practice.
Provide Strategic Innovation Direction:
Complete engineering/technical responsibility for the combined
circa $2.4B Health Solutions business.
Establish an approved technology roadmap for medical products
for the next 10 years.
Define, set and lead the execution of the engineering/technical
strategies to support growth of the combined Health Solutions
business to ~$5B in revenue over the next 5 years.
Partner with other leaders to establish objectives and action
plans interfacing productively and collaboratively across the
Health Solutions organization, as well as, across the overall
company, including directly developing trusted advisor
relationships with customers.
Identify and build engineering/technical business cases for
investment opportunities in new markets, geographies, new
customers, as well as expand the profitable relationships with
Challenges their organization by asking the "tough questions":
What engineering/technical capability do we need to support
expanding/pursuing business/market opportunity in specific business
areas/geographies? How does our engineering/technical capabilities
need to evolve to support high margin generating products? What's
the next technology/systems need we should be focusing on
developing capability for in the Health Solutions industry segment?
How are we supporting technology and systems convergence needs
within our target client base? What engineering capability and/or
technology do we need to acquire to create profitable synergy in
our platform base?
Develop a strategy to leverage enterprise-wide wide key
differentiators to include technology, manufacturing, and other
value-added competencies capability versus simply attempting to
differentiate based on being a low cost supplier.
Develop and gain stakeholder buy-in, and effectively evangelize
and enroll the Health Solutions organization around a
forward-looking engineering/technical vision.
Position industry thought leadership:
In external forums, provide a point of view on the impact cross
industry technologies can have in healthcare.
Champion Flex’s role in the acceleration of technology
Provide compelling/visionary point of view help customers
understand what is possible.
Here is some of what you’ll need (required):
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15+ years of
broad-based technology and engineering experience within health
solutions or medical devices technologies with increasing levels of
Candidates must be organizationally and culturally agile with
the ability to work in a large, complex, matrix organization
Candidates will have a demonstrated ability to apply an
analytical, process-driven approach to include appropriate KPI’s,
in order to be proactive in all technical matters globally
Strong acumen with the ability to lead change
Intensely collaborative and able to lead through influence
Ability to travel to support the requirements of this critical
