Communications Associate * --- Hiring_Department Lyndon B Johnson School of Public Affairs * --- Position_Open_To All Applicants * --- Weekly_Scheduled_Hours 40 * --- FLSA_Status Exempt * --- Earliest_Start_Date Immediately * --- Position_Duration Expected to Continue * --- Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS * --- Job_Description Serve as a valued member of the LBJ School communications team with a focus on social media, events and student engagement. * --- Job_Details Responsibilities SOCIAL MEDIA * Work with communications manager to conceptualize, execute and analyze performance of social media strategies as they relate to student recruitment/experience, faculty research and major school initiatives * Create compelling and engaging social media content (graphics, messaging, videos) to support the school's marketing objectives, amplify its value proposition and grow its channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), inclusive of brand voice and taking platform nuances into account for optimal performance. * Conceptualize, produce and edit mobile-first content for all platforms and target audiences, based on marketing priorities * Develop social media calendar and voice for all channels. Responsible for populating content calendar, platform publishing/ scheduling and copywriting * Work with the communications manager and 50th anniversary project manager to align social media calendars with other production timelines and editorial calendars. * Stay updated on emerging trends and provide recommendations to the communications manager on best practices. * Oversee student and faculty takeovers on the social media accounts. * Social media ad buys for recruitment and events and ad performance monitoring * Work with the digital content manager to ensure social media and web integration (advertising pixels, conversion tracking, etc.) * Collaborate with communications team and partners to grow and support national and micro influencer media campaigns, especially as it relates to the 50th anniversary celebration * Measure content performance and create reports EVENTS * Create and send monthly event listings to internal and external stakeholders. * Update, print and hang monthly event posters. * Assist the senior event coordinator with event promotion, including marketing to external audiences and social media marketing * Assist the senior event coordinator with guest registration and management (customer service) during events * Assist the senior event coordinator with onsite logistics, including set up, space staging, ordering catering, managing guest check-in and event cleanup * Coordinate with external event partners as needed * Coordinate event signage * Work closely with the communications manager to ensure identity and branding at events * Write event recaps for social media and the website * Obtain necessary permits for event services and activations * Assist the senior events coordinator with maintaining the master events calendar ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES * Recruit student volunteers and coordinate their activities as needed for the 50th anniversary * Fielding communications related requests from other departments * Working with the business office on communications-related activities, including submitting quotes, receipts and invoices and completing Official Occasion Expense Forms * Arranging visitor transportation and accommodations as it relates to communications department activities and 50th anniversary * Coordinate LBJ filming requests * Oversee communications event and marketing collateral inventory * Writing internal and external communications as needed, including but not limited to student experience stories, school news, media advisories and newsletter copy * Assist the communications manager with media reports as they relate to events and/or faculty research DESIGN * Manage production schedules for digital and print assets as they relate to student recruitment and the 50th anniversary * Identify opportunities for branding trends and drive efforts to produce such content (i.e., social media stickers) Required_Qualifications * 2 years relevant experience in social media, advertising, public relations or marketing communications; social media strategy experience * Prior digital marketing experience (social, email, mobile, etc.) * Bachelor's degree in creative, communications, marketing or a related field * Strong writing, editing and language skills * Intermediate art/design skills * Comfortable conceptualizing ideas and managing a campaign through production and post * Strong interpersonal skills and enjoys working cross-functionally to achieve goals * Ability to manage time efficiently and work in a fast-paced, multi- tasking, deadline-driven environment * Strong visual sense, with a solid understanding of photography principles for mobile-first content * Proven ability to scrutinize large amounts of content, identify and fix issues * Strategic thinker and self-starter, specifically in identifying innovative partnership opportunities with our social media platforms * Ability to work individually on a project or in a team environment Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred_Qualifications More than 2 years of relevant experience in social media, advertising, public relations or marketing communications; social media strategy experience Salary Range $40,000-$47,000 + depending on qualifications Working Conditions * Standard office conditions. * Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. * Subject to nights and weekends as required.
