Associate Counsel - Real Estate
Jupiter Power is an energy infrastructure company focused on the
development, construction, and operation of energy storage assets
in wholesale electricity markets. Formed in 2017, the company is a
national leader in energy storage deployment, utilizing its
proprietary dispatch optimization applications to support both
merchant and contracted structures. Jupiter currently has
approximately 700 megawatt-hours in construction or operation and
is developing approximately 12 GW of projects over 2022-2026. The
company is backed by EnCap Investments, L.P.'s Energy Transition
Fund.
Jupiter seeks to grow its team with the recruitment of a highly
motivated, attorney to serve as Associate Counsel - Real Estate,
reporting to the VP, Legal & Operations. The ideal candidate will
have experience in a broad range of real estate matters, preferably
in the renewable energy and/or power markets. The successful
candidate will be able to work on a range of legal issues for the
company, as well as business and strategy matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate real estate agreements including
ground leases, commercial leases, purchase and sale agreements,
options, easements, crossing-agreements for projects across the
United States - Analyze and provide guidance to the business on
real estate agreements and instruments to ensure compliance -
Advise the business on the appropriate real estate rights required
for applicable projects - Assist the commercial team in conducting
due diligence for transactions
- Advise and assist in recording real estate agreements in the
applicable county records - Managing all title insurance matters
including the analysis of title commitments, working with business
and title insurance companies to cure titles issues, drafting of
curative documents - Hire and manage outside legal counsel and
billings

backgrounds as well as company priorities.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 to 4 years of real estate/transactional experience.
- Bachelors' Degree required and J.D. degree from an ABA-approved
law school is preferred
- High level of interest in energy storage and renewable energy
technologies and deployments is required; significant work
experience in these areas is preferred
- Eager to wear multiple hats depending on business need and
project priorities
- High comfort level with small teams and organizations, with the
curiosity and enthusiasm to innovate and formulate new ideas and to
bring the best out of co-workers
- Must be able to take ownership and initiative, in order to be
effective within a highly motivated, fast-moving team and complete
tasks in a timely manner
- Will often require work outside of normal business hours
- (Preferred) Familiarity with energy storage and renewable energy
technologies and deployments
Compensation and benefits offered will be commensurate with the
experience and qualifications of the candidate. The preferred
location for the role is Austin, Tx or Chicago, IL. However,
location in Houston, TX can be discussed.
