Job Posting Title: Linux Systems Administrator - Hiring Department: Applied Research Laboratories - Position Open To: All Applicants - Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 - FLSA Status: Exempt - Earliest Start Date: Immediately - Position Duration: Expected to Continue - Location: PICKLE RESEARCH CAMPUS - Job Description: Required position for laboratory research and development support. - Job Details: Responsibilities Under general supervision, perform Linux computer systems installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, trouble shooting, and end-user support for servers, workstations, laptops, and virtual machines. Maintain computer systems in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Assist in deployment and maintenance of engineering/scientific software applications on servers and end-user computer systems. Perform computer systems audits for compliance with established information assurance policies and configuration guidelines. Maintain computer hardware/software inventories. Document computer system configurations. Other related functions as assigned. Required Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Working knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures used in maintaining a Linux infrastructure: RedHat or CentOS Linux versions 6 or 7. Knowledge of networking and computer security concepts. Candidate will need to obtain a DoD 8570.1 IAT Level II Certification, such as Security+, within 6 months of hire date. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, written and oral communication skills. Must have a professional demeanor, be punctual and have the ability to work with little or no supervision. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. US Citizen: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field. One-year experience in Linux system administration. Experience with network and host-based security monitoring. Network+ and/or Security+ certifications. Knowledge of system configuration management tools such as Puppet. Knowledge of shell scripting: Perl, Python, Bash or similar. Knowledge of VMware VSphere virtualization management and practices. Knowledge of source code management tools such as Subversion or GIT. Knowledge of database tools: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL or similar. Knowledge of web programming languages: Java, Javascript, Python, Ruby, PHP. Knowledge of web development content management tools: Django, Alfresco or similar. Knowledge of Windows 7 or 10 administration to include Active Directory, Point, and Exchange. Knowledge of Mac OSX 10.12 or 10.13. General Notes An agency designated by the federal government handles the investigation as to the requirement for eligibility for access to classified information.
