team and the role: The Risk function at eBay works to ensure
phenomenal experiences when buyers and sellers come together on the
world’s biggest marketplace. It involves fully understanding
Payments & Risks on the platform. The team identifies opportunities
and helps build scalable solutions that improve user experience.
Our mission is to eliminate bad actors, prevent impacting good
customer experience, and bolster confidence across the platform,
encouraging both buyer and seller growth. As part of this dynamic
team, you will provide quantitative risk intelligence that enables
robust, scalable risk decisions—balancing initiative health, steady
growth, and excellent customer experience. This role demands
urgency, a curious attitude, and a strong analytical approach to
drive optimized strategies for risk management. What you will
accomplish: Improve and expand Risk Management strategies to ensure
efficient payments to good sellers and strategic management of
potential risks. Leverage AI tools and analytics to identify
fraudulent activities and implement protective measures.
Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and test innovative risk
strategies that secure trust in our marketplace. Analyze data to
uncover insights and drive decision-making, optimizing the
efficiency of risk management strategies. Translate the business
requirement documents to practical risk strategy with measurable
outcomes and operational guardrails Contribute to the team's growth
by sharing analytical insights and encouraging a culture of
curiosity and continuous improvement. What you will bring:
Dedicated to the Hybrid Work Model, working onsite at our Austin,
Texas office or our Salt Lake City, Utah office. A degree or
comparable experience in a quantitative field is necessary. Either
a BS with 5-7 years of experience or an MS with 3-5 years of
relevant experience qualifies. Familiarity with AI tools for fraud
detection is also required. 1 years in marketplace risk and fraud
detection is a plus. Over 3 years engaged in data analytics, or
equivalent analytical functions. Commitment to identifying and
closing gaps used by fraudulent actors to protect the platform.
Proven ability to derive strategic insights from data, test new
strategies, and communicate performance optimally. Experience in
drafting business requirement documents and driving product
initiatives to successful implementation. Proven evidence of
ownership and urgency Strong analytical skills with experience in
SQL, Python, and R, paired with a passion for data-driven
decision-making. Excellent storytelling skills, using analytical
insights to engage and advise stakeholders effectively. LI-JG1
Additional Details The base pay range for this position is expected
in the range below: $86,800 - $150,100 Base pay offered may vary
depending on multiple individualized factors, including location,
skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this
position may also include other elements, including a target bonus
and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full
range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including
401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO
and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit
plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of
employment. If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position”
and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well
as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any
