Construction team seeks an individual to serve as Supervisor of the
Electrical Shop. You'll be working for a university that is

work required.PurposeLead the Construction Services Electrical
Shop, including daily operations, staff supervision, shop safety
and productivity, coordination with clients and project managers,
and teamwork with other shops.Responsibilities
- Lead assigned personnel in execution of facility renovation and
repair projects, and campus special event support in compliance
with project documents, schedules, and budgets. Coordinate with
clients, project managers, planners, and other stakeholders.
- Manage shop operations and daily work schedules; coordinate
with Project Management Team, Production Control Section, and other
shops to ensure timely completion of assigned projects. Conduct
site visits and maintain quality control of all work
performed.
- Lead, motivate, train, counsel, and discipline employees as
appropriate to maintain high standards in employee performance,
shop productivity, and client project delivery. Promote teamwork
within shop and with other shops.
- Promote and maintain shop safety program, including daily
housekeeping and compliance with published policies and procedures
for safe operation of shop equipment and vehicles, and job site
safety.
- Interpret project drawings, specifications, and sketches.
Communicate instructions to staff in compliance with UT
construction standards, regulatory codes, and standards of the
trade. Review design documents for constructability.
- Practice and promote the values and goals of the university and
the department. Ensure staff members understand their contributions
to these performance standards.
- Drive UT vehicle to visit job sites and purchase materials and
equipment. Accomplish shop written and electronic documentation,
including project estimates, material/equipment requisitions,
timesheets, and employee performance reports. Compile and submit
information on shop productivity for division reports.
- Attend management-directed meetings and training. Accomplish
other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsHigh school
graduation or GED. Licensed by TDLR as a Master Electrician. Five
years experience as a journey-level electrician. Three years
experience leading electricians in commercial, industrial, or
institutional renovation, maintenance, or construction as a project
lead electrician, crew leader, or supervisor. Licenses: Licensed by
the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) as a Master
Electrician. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate
verbally and in writing with clients, project managers, and other
stakeholders. Experience using a personal computer and Microsoft
Windows Outlook/Word/Excel, or similar software. Excellent customer
service skills. Proven ability to work as a team member and promote
teamwork within shop and with other shops. Prior to date of hire,
successful applicant must provide a current driver's license and
acceptable driving record for the most recent 36 months. Texas
driving history will be confirmed online during selection process;
applicant must provide out-of-state driving history, if previously
licensed in another state.Relevant education and experience may be
substituted as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsAssociates
degree or successful completion of vocational/technical training as
a commercial/industrial electrician or related construction field.
Three years or more experience as a Master Electrician, including
experience leading crews, including quality control and timely
delivery of projects within client budget and schedule. Seven years
or more experience as a journeyman electrician, including
experience in project estimating, layout, equipment operations,
renovations, and facility repair. Experience with installation of
transformers; motor controls; rigid, EMT, and flexible conduit; and
various commercial raceways. Experience working in a large
university or comparable commercial/industrial physical
plant.Driving RequiredThis job requires a class "C" operator's
driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current
three year driving record from the current state of residence. If
not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be
obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who
are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing
(pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random,
return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).Salary
