job summary:
Working as a senior member of the design team, the Database
Architect is responsible for the design, development, and
maintenance of a high transaction performant database system used
in our client's Management System. The Database Architect will
ensure design coupling between the application and database layers
to provide a highly performant data solution when it matters most:
end-user registration, absentee management, and other
management-related tasks. Using SQL Server, SQL Reporting Services,
and SQL Server Integration Services, the architect will ensure the
web-based application suite is able to provide data solutions,
database maintenance, archiving solutions, and most importantly,
highly responsive data analytics and reporting.

responsibilities:
Design and implement database architecture for a web-based
application to scale to millions of registered voters
Design database scalability solutions for applications that require
both high transactional processing and large system reports and
analytics, optimizing T-SQL queries for highly performant reporting
services
Determine best practices for database administration of on-premise
and cloud-based systems
Work with the architecture team to design data schemas that
translate into business domain entities - Assist software domain
engineers with query tuning for stored procedures, ORM
generated
queries, and best practices in data storage, including SQL vs.
no-SQL options for data retention - Create thorough documentation
describing system schemas and outlining data flow across the
application suite.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required Experience
Ten years of experience with relational database systems, seven of
which use SQL Server
Experience designing data schemas for OLTP and OLAP systems,
including requirements for scale-up and scale-out solutions in
web-based transactional environments.
Experience transforming OLTP data schemas into OLAP data schemas in
real time
Experience with the full software development life cycle and
environment management
Knowledge of database hardware scalability best practices
Experience in developing processes and procedures for database
maintenance activities including index management, log analysis,
corruption checking, and backup/recovery methods
Development of monitoring and alerting methods and processes for
proactive notification of data-related issues
Proven work history of completing projects on time and on budget,
exceeding quality goals
Experience working with software engineers and making
software/database tradeoffs.
Required Skills
-Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Standard and Enterprise
Editions
-Knowledge of SQL Reporting Services and SQL Server Integration
Services
-Knowledge of concurrency with consideration towards page, table,
and row locking and transactional impact on table data
modifications
Ability to troubleshoot an existing database, redesign it, work
with developers and QA teams while implementing the change, and
integrate it into a production environment
Ability to design data storage structures and models that meet the
required data workload
Ability to take a database from a small scale to a much larger
scale while increasing performance
Apply problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills
Possess database change management skills in a production
environment including ing database updates from Microsoft
Ability to collaborate and solid track record of excellent,
effective delivery and customer service. Must be able to thrive
while constantly on the critical path
Must be an effective written and spoken communicator with staff and
company management
Detail-oriented, organized, thorough and respectful of quality
control

Entity Framework or other object-relational mappers
Git, Microsoft DevOps, or other software versioning tools

Reporting and other BI tools
