Sr. Embedded Software Design EngineerAustin, TXJob Summary of Sr. Embedded Software Design EngineerOur Client is a global leader in rugged embedded electronics (in aerospace, defense, indsutrial, energy, etc.) and they're looking for an Embedded Software Design Engineer to join their team. In this position, you will be responsible for developing software and firmware for embedded Single Board Computer products. You will develop, implement and validate embedded software components such as firmware, device drivers, Board Support Packages (BSPs) and I/O fabric frameworks. You will produce and support high-quality products to exacting software engineering standards for demanding customers.This company is experiencing healthy growth due to the popularity of its products, and they offer challenging work and solid long-term potential. While this is a mid-size team, they're part of a larger company that gives them the backing and resources you'll need to succeed.Responsibilities of Sr. Embedded Software Design EngineerProduce firmware, device drivers, Board Support Packages (BSPs) and associated software components for use with VxWorks 7, and the later versions of VxWorks 6.9.Perform customer support and issue resolution resulting in the production of maintenance releases.Perform software migration to support new versions of the VxWorks OS.Develop key expertise and drive best practice within the VxWorks development team.Communicate development status to key stakeholders in a timely and professional fashionProduce internal documentation for assigned tasks consistent with engineering proceduresProduce draft customer documentation for processing and deployment by Tech Publications groupParticipate in continuous improvement of Software Development ProcessesQualifications of Sr. Embedded Software Design EngineerBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related discipline10+ years of experience in embedded software development, with embedded C, through the full development life-cycleSolid background in Real-Time Operating Systems (VxWorks)Good understanding of VxBusBackground in aerospace/defense industry is a plusExperience in several of these would be a plus:- Agile work environment- Continuous integration / deployment- Modern computer architecturesProblem-solving and creative, solution-building skills.Verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work successfully in a team environmentCompensation & Other DetailsSalary Range: $110,000-160,000 /year, plus bonus and benefitsLocation: Austin, TXType: DirectTravel: Willing to travel occasionally (international)Relocation Assistance: AvailableVisa Sponsorship: Green Card or US Citizen only
