Job Description:

Responsible for assisting in the statewide support of pro bono efforts and legal aid services to the poor for the State Bar of Texas (SBOT) and the Texas Access to Justice Commission (TAJC) initiatives to improve access to justice for low-income people in Texas.+ Manages support services that benefit legal aid and pro bono programs, including SBOT's Malpractice Insurance Program and the Texas Legal Research Network.+ Organizes the annual statewide TAJC Gala.+ Organizes the Family Law Essential Seminars conducted in rural locations throughout the state to recruit pro bono lawyers for family law cases.+ Prepares research materials for Congressional and State Legislative lobbying efforts.+ Manages LAD publications, including the referral directory and LSC personnel directory, and supervises temporary and support staff working on these projects.+ Manages LegalFront website blog and assists in the production and content development of the Update.+ Assists in the planning and implementation of CLE programs for legal aid providers.+ Handles the nomination and selection process for a variety of LAD and TAJC awards.+ Manages content for the TAJC and the Legal Access Division pages on the SBOT websites.+ Answers public inquiries about where to get legal help and performs other duties as assigned.A bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience plus 1 year related experience, preferably in project management and fundraising event planning. Must be organized and detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Must be proficient with computer software, including MS Word and Excel. Experience with website content software preferred. Excellent writing skills required. Entails day-to-day communication and cooperation with TAJC chair and board members, the Texas Supreme Court, division staff, members of the legal aid community and the public. Occasional travel is required. Experience with legal services to the poor or other public interest groups preferred.
