Software Technical Lead The RoleThe ROCm GPU math libraries team develops software for the latest innovations that power the ultimate computing experience provided by our AMD Instinct GPUs. The highly tuned libraries are developed with C++, Python, HIP and GPU assembly programming by dedicated teams supporting latest AI and HPC software and hardware technologies. To grow these libraries with rich features and support customers at scale, the code development must follow great software design principles while striving for simplicity, ease-of-maintenance, and extensibility.Relevant Project Links HereThe successful candidate for this role will be an integral part of our GPU Matrix & Tensor compute libraries team (comprising open-source projects such as Tensile, rocBLAS, rocWMMA) by working on software framework, maintainable code development, code refactoring, performance tuning, debug, maintenance, and release support.   • Possess excellent software skills in C++ and preferably Python
  • Have proven software design & development experience on Linux/Windows environments
  • Be skilled at performance analysis, profiling, and optimizations
  • Have strong desire and ability to solve problems quickly
  • Be able to schedule, and work on tasks independently, as well as collaboratively
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be flexible and accept new challenges Key Responsibilities
    • Plan, design, implement new software features in libraries to improve key workload performances across several GPU platforms
    • Understand existing codebases and software designs, and make incremental improvements to enhance maintainability working together with primary development team
    • Identify and resolve functional and performance issues working closely with associated development teams and other internal engineering teams
    • Facilitate and accelerate integration of code from large, distributed teams via CI/CD and follow best practices for source control (git) Preferred Experience/Skills
      • Proficient in C/C++ and Python programming employing best software design practices
      • Proven experience working on large software development projects
      • Working knowledge of Linux/Windows environments and common development tools
      • Understanding of PC architecture and server systems
      • Experience in device & system level performance evaluations and debugging
      • Experience in code optimizations for any architectures such as CPU/GPU/FPGA is a plus
      • GPU software development or validation experience involving HIP/CUDA/OpenCL is a big plus
      • Ability to closely interact with architects, developers, testers, and tuning teams to maintain and release production software
