We celebrate differences and encourage BANDmates to be their authentic selves. #jointhebandWhat We Are Looking ForAs a Developer Advocate at Bandwidth, you will be the go-to person for global developer relations, supporting development and product management for internal and external developer interactions when it comes to all things related to our developer experience. You will be showcasing and promoting Bandwidth's APIs and SDKs, engaging with the internal developer community and external developer community worldwide to raise awareness of our products and services.You love to write code but also love to talk to developers and non-technical people about your apps and software. You love to speak about all the great things that can be done using APIs and can give engaging presentations and demos. You act as a guide for our developer customers, showing them how to best use our APIs. You know how to engage with the developer community and generate buzz around your areas of expertise.The Developer Advocate is part of Developer Experience, within the Customer Experience Foundation (CXF) team, newly launched at Bandwidth to drive the creation of best-in-class services for our customers and build innovative web and software foundations for delivery teams across Bandwidth as they build their application on top of them.What You'll Do

  • Build and grow the Bandwidth developer community, for both internal Bandwidth developers and for the external developer community
  • Manage developer relations with customers to understand and vocalize developer community feedback
  • Write high-quality open-source sample code and demo apps that enable developers to understand and build their apps using Bandwidth APIs
  • Be the creator of engaging materials and media that promote us in multiple forums. These include blog posts, articles, presentations, and videos to engage technical audiences of all sizes.
  • Influence developers and developer communities as a thought leader for API best practices, using all forms of internal and external media platforms
  • Collaborate with product and software development teams to drive improvements in the design of our APIs
  • Contribute to the development of the Developer Experience infrastructure platforms What You Need
    • Bachelor's degree in related field or qualified experience
    • 2+ years of developer advocacy or software development experience
    • Experience with multiple general-purpose programming languages and willingness to learn new programming languages
    • Strong knowledge of good and bad API design from consuming, building, and documenting REST APIs
    • Dabbled in side projects, research, or open-source projects
    • Desire to be an influencer and a love for creating content
    • Energetic self-starter who takes initiative and runs with it
    • Passion for communicating with other developers and strong speaking and presentation skills to back it up
    • Relentless optimism and customer focusBonus Points
      • Familiarity with OpenAPI Specification (Swagger) or other API specifications
      • Experience using Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions
      • Contributed to open-source projects
      • Examples of online media content you have posted pertaining to developer relations
      • Experience working with communications APIs
