Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Address and manage telephone, email and in-person inquiries from employees, supervisors and other HR Team me Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standardsMaximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimizationSecures network system by establishing and enforcing policies, defining and monitoring accessUpdates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizationsAccomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as neededReporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projectsIdeal Candidate Profile:A.A., A.A.S., or higher college degree in a technical field AND3 or more years of relevant job experience.Relevant job experience is described as technical support role (i.e.: NOC, IT Helpdesk or Service Desk)At least 3-5 years' experience in a network support roleExperience of network monitoring software.In depth knowledge of core TCP/IP networking skills, routing and switching (Juniper/Cisco)Previous experience of working in an SLA-driven operation environment (ideally ISP based)Good understanding of IP and/or Optical networks to include IPv4, IPv6, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, MPLS, VLANS, Ethernet, DWDM, SDH, Dark Fiber, DNS, SNMP, and IPSecJNCIA or CCNA certification or equivalent skill level developed through industry experience is preferredExperience of shift work 24x7x365Essential Criteria:Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)Logical problem analysis skillsUse initiative and take ownershipAbility to multitask, prioritize and work in a pressured and sometimes stressful environmentMust be adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of peopleAchieve certification and maintain required training levelsMust be a positive team player willing to contributeAbility to work on rotating shifts and/or on-call rotationsHours/Travel/Shift:24x7x365 Work ShiftPhysical Job Requirements:The physical demands described within the Responsibilities section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this jobReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be independently mobileThe employee is also required to interact with a computer and communicate with peers and co-workersExtended periods of time doing computer-based work Able to lift 25 poundsEEO Statement:GTT provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetics.
