Job Description:
The Director, Compensation will be a key member of Tesla's
People team ensuring the success of the Compensation function and
striving for continuous improvement. -Reporting to the VP, People,
this position will lead the Compensation function and be
accountable for the leadership and oversight of employee
compensation programs across North America. The successful
candidate will be ready to -evaluate -Tesla's compensation programs
for engineering, energy, sales, and manufacturing environments. You
should have outstanding partnerships with HR, Recruiting, hiring
managers, and other senior leaders towards rolling out and
sustaining successful compensation programs. Ultimately, you will
serve as the senior leader of Compensation for a dynamic
organization.Responsibilities - Provide expertise on all
compensation programs, including base pay, equity, incentive
compensation, performance rewards and recognition practices - Leads
the development, implementation and administration of compensation
programs. - Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation
practices and recommends changes that are cost-effective and
consistent with compensation trends and company objectives. -
Partner with leaders in HR, Finance, Legal, and Stock
Administration to design competitive, effective, and equitable
compensation programs - Lead and develop a team of Compensation
Partners and Compensation Analysts - Manage compensation market
pricing and benchmarking efforts, including identification of
benchmarking solutions and participation in surveys - Perform
research on emerging trends, issues, and best practices in
compensation, using analytics to help enhance programs, process, or
incumbent-level concerns - Manage and monitor approved annual
budgets and processes approved by Tesla's senior leaders and/or
Board - Manage project plan elements and provide expertise to
compensation and cross-functional HR projects - Develop, implement
and lead compensation communication and training programs for
managers and HR - Lead the development and management of
compensation analytics - - Support the development and roll-out of
internal and client-facing compensation tools and systems - Primary
point of contact and relationship manager to third-party
vendorsRequirements - 10-12+ years' experience in Compensation team
leadership - Bachelor's degree required and/or equivalent in
experience. HR, business administration, finance, economics, or
other quantitative focus preferred - Must be able to effectively
talk and write about the company's pay strategy and system, and
address any concerns that come from executives and employees - Must
be able to collect, weigh, and analyze data on many factors to
determine the best compensation plan for the company - Solid
working knowledge of math and statistics - Computer proficiency and
technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products,
including Excel. - Ability to work in a team environment with a
high sense of urgency - Experience designing and rolling out
compensation programs in U.S., Canada, and Mexico - Experience
establishing and overseeing external third-party relationships -
Ability to manage multiple projects and day-to-day operations
concurrently - Excellent understanding of relevant and emerging
U.S. compensation regulations - Public company experience preferred
- Executive and Board Compensation experience preferred but not
