The Opportunity

We are seeking an HR Generalist to join our team. This position is responsible for performing day-to-day HR, Safety and Training-related duties on a professional level working closely with human resources team members in supporting the People operations. The HR Generalist will also be responsible for various HR projects and will assist with human resource administrative, safety, and training duties.


  • Assists in administering various human resources programs and procedures for all employees
  • Supports the new hire and onboarding process and partners with HR Coordinator for coordination of required documents and paperwork, welcome gift basket, coordination with IT and shared services, day one orientation and new hire announcements
  • First contact for questions and concerns with regards to benefit programs, insurance, HRIS, payroll and employment information. Refers difficult or complex issues as needed
  • Acts as liaison between employee and insurance providers to resolve benefit related problems and ensure effective utilization of plans and positive employee relations
  • Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and deductions. Generating various payroll reports/fielding payroll related requests for information
  • Ensure fair and consistent administration of all human resources policies and practices
  • Assists with processing of terminations and data changes for employee records
  • Support and engagement in the "Culture" of Meriton and our portfolio of businesses
  • Assist in preparation of government reports related to compliance or other HR functions
  • Support with Safety and OSHA program including training, documentation, claims, logs and reporting
  • Support HR Director and Sales Learning & Development Manager with training needs, scheduling, and administration
  • Assist with DOL compliance related to federal gov't job site payroll requirements
  • Assists with various research projects and/or other special projects as needed. Other duties as assigned


    The Profile
    • Bachelor's Degree in HR or related field; or High school diploma or equivalent plus 3+ years human resources or experience.
    • PHR and/or SHRM-CP a plus
    • High level of initiative with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, deal with ambiguity and manage projects
    • Ability to handle highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality and professionalism
    • Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn HR system applications
    • HVAC, Construction, or related industry a plus

      Other Skills/Abilities

      Language Skills
      Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

      Mathematical Skills
      Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

      Reasoning Ability
      Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.

      Environmental Requirements

      Will be required to work in an office environment and possibly, occasionally in the field.

      Physical Demands

      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard and telephone, reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
