Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Director, the HR Clerk will perform a wide range of administrative/clerical tasks to support effective and efficient operations of the City's Human Resources Department.An important part of this role will be to rely on pre-established guidelines and instructions (written and verbal) to perform job functions, act as a liaison between HR and employees, ensuring smooth communication (written and verbal) and prompt resolution of requests and questions. This position will support activities from coordinating meetings to maintaining our employee database to posting job ads.This position will provide customer service to the community, and maintain daily contact with public, city staff, local businesses, and department. It is imperative that the person employed in this position maintains professional and ethical standards. These expectations include confidentiality, courtesy, cooperation, positive attitude, reliability, efficiency and respectful towards others. The HR Clerk shall represent the City in a positive way, both on duty and in connection with City sponsored activities. Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation. Relies on pre-established guidelines and instructions (written and verbal) to perform job functions. Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior level HR staff or management. Provides clerical and administrative support to the HR Director and department. Participates in the recruitment and hiring process through exploring potential recruitment opportunities to post job vacancies and receive applications for open postings. Assists with coordinating the interview process internally and externally. Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resources files, records, and information. May assist with performing periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all requested documents are collected and filed appropriately. Creating and maintaining various reports, correspondence, and spreadsheets. May assist with time keeping functions including collecting time records, processing, answering employee questions, and fixing leave errors. Assists with planning special events such as benefits enrollment, organization wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties and retirement celebrations. Will be the point person for applicant questions and information flow between the organization and the job candidate. Assist with general office reception and other duties as assigned.
