The Kitchen Manager (KM) at Picnik Restaurant plays a key role in overseeing the kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and efficiency. The KM supervises the back of house team, manages inventory, and safety compliance. The ideal candidate is a culinary professional with a passion for serving nutritional delicious food and has a strong background in kitchen management and food preparation. Position Responsibilities Kitchen Operations Management: Support Regional Chef with all aspects of kitchen operations, including good preparation, cooking, and plating to ensure high-quality standards are met and maintained. Staffing and Scheduling: Provide guidance to the BOH team, fostering a collaborative work environment and ensuring adherence to recipes and standards. Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and managing schedules to meet operational needs. Training, Development, and Performance Management: Support new hire training and new initiatives for the team to enhance their skills. Identify and nurture talent within the team, providing regular feedback and coaching to employees to support professional development and improve performance. Maintain accurate documentation on employee performance to track progress, identify areas for improvement, recognize achievement, and separate when necessary. Cost Control and Waste Management: Recommend strategies to control food costs, minimize waste, and maximize efficiency in the kitchen to guarantee profitability and sustainability. Inventory Management: Support in the inventory management by ordering ingredients and supplies, monitoring stock levels, and minimizing waste. Health & Safety Compliance: Follow strict health and safety regulations, conduct training sessions with the Regional Chef to guarantee a safe and clean environment for the team and Guests. Quality Control: Monitor food quality and verify that all dishes meet Picnik standards for taste, presentation, and consistency. Administrative Duties: Perform various administrative tasks, such as maintaining records, preparing reports on food usage and waste, inventory, and cost reconciliation to support the overall operations of the kitchen. Support GM/ DO and Regional Chef with other tasks, as needed. Position Requirements Creative, driven, culinary focused, detail-oriented, and hungry Excellent interpersonal communication skills 2+ years of management in a full-service scratch kitchen Experience with service and production in a full-service restaurant setting Experience with restaurant systems and cost controls (Schedules, Inventory, P/Ls) Experience with vendor relationship, product ordering, and invoice organization Computer knowledge (Google Drive & Suite, Toast) Experience with supporting a strong and successful team Bilingual in English & Spanish is a plus. ***If you'd like to find out more about Picnik, check us out on Instagram @picnikaustin, or online at www.picnikaustin.com.***' Picnik Restaurants is an Equal Opportunity & E- Verify Employer.
