Currently seeking a Sous Chef at our newest concept, BBQ Ramen Tatsu-Ya! The candidate will be responsible for assisting the Exec Sous in planning and directing food preparation in kitchens. This involves a large degree of supervising other kitchen staff, as well as keeping an eye out for problems that arise in the kitchen and seizing control of a situation at a moment s notice.About:Tatsu-Ya is an Austin-based restaurant group: Ramen Tatsu-Ya, Kemuri Tatsu-Ya, Domo Alley Gato, DipDipDip Tatsu-Ya, Tiki Tatsu-Ya and now BBQ Ramen!From the mastermind DJ s-turned-Chefs, Chefs Tatsu Aikawa and Chef Takuya Tako Matsumoto, BBQ Ramen is the newest addition to the Ramen Tatsu-Ya family you won't want to miss! In an old but familiar space with a new experience, BBQ Ramen is trend setting ramen culture in the USA. BBQ joint, but ramen shop. Friendly southern hospitality, smoky but clean and gritty charm. There is a contagious buzz you feel when walking in. Our outdoor space has an atmosphere where new friends are made, stories are told, and favorite bites are discovered. We are looking for dedicated hospitality professionals with an outgoing personality, positive energy, and who are looking to grow with part of a great team!BBQ Ramen will be opening late summer 2022!Job Duties:Work with the executive chef to produce diversified menus in accordance with the restaurant s policy and visionCome up with new dishes which appeal to the clients, whenever requiredEstablish the working schedule and organize the work in the kitchen so that everything works like a well-oiled machine Produce high quality dishes that follow up the established menu and level up to location s standards, as well as to clients requirementsPlan the food design in order to create a perfect match between the dish s aspect and its tasteTrain the auxiliary kitchen staff in order to provide best results in minimum time and using at the maximum the available resourcesMaintain order and discipline in the kitchen during working hours SkillsAbilities:2+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or relevant experienceUnderstanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and proceduresExcellent record of kitchen and staff managementAccuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutionsFamiliar with industry s best practicesAbility to lift 50 lbsStand on feet for long periods of timeMust communicate effectivelyMust be able to follow directions and proceduresMust have or obtain Food Handlers certificationMust be able to work in a fast-paced environmentBasic cooking knowledge a plusMust excel in a team environmentPerks Include: Paid medical benefits offeredFree shift mealsDiscounts at Tatsu-Ya restaurantsFlexible hours in a fun, dynamic, fast-paced work environmentThe opportunity for internal growth
