Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 03/30/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview - Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs - Hours: 36 hrs/wk - Start Date: Mar 30, 2026 - Length: 13 weeks - Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU position in Austin, TX, requiring at least 1 year of ICU experience and cardiac monitoring skills, working 13-week night shift contracts. Details - 20-bed ICU unit in an acute care hospital setting - Critical care discipline serving a diverse ICU patient population - Patient ratios of 2:1 or 1:1 depending on acuity - Equipment used includes GE bedside monitors, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Prismax CRRT, and Tablo SLED - EMR: Meditech - Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM - Night shift requires 6 weekend shifts per schedule (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) - 13-week contract - No on-call required Requirements - Active TX RN license or compact RN license required - Current BLS (AHA or ARC accepted) required; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the start date - Current NIHSS certification required for ICU RNs - Minimum 1 year of recent ICU/critical care RN experience required - Experience with cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation required - Experience with titratable drips required - Understanding of hemodynamics required - Experience with respiratory patients including vents, BiPAP, trachs, and Airvo required - Experience with CRRT and SLED preferred - US SSN and date of birth required for consideration - One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri) - No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months Additional Information - Typical procedures performed on the unit include central line and chest tube insertion, bronchoscopies, tracheostomies, lumbar punctures, and intubation - Day shift staffing includes a charge nurse and 10 RNs; night shift includes a charge nurse and 10 RNs - Navy scrubs required - Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted - Team player with a positive, adaptable attitude is the ideal personality fit for this unit American Traveler Job ID P-685599.
