Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary The Physical Therapist provides comprehensive
physical therapy services to patients referred for evaluation and
treatment in an inpatient and/or outpatient clinical setting.
Responsibilities include performing assessments, developing and
implementing individualized treatment plans, providing follow-up
care, and coordinating discharge planning. This role supports
clinical department operations, program development, and
performance improvement initiatives. The Physical Therapist may
assist in supervising Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs),
rehabilitation technicians, students, and volunteers while
promoting high standards of patient-centered care. Key
Responsibilities Perform comprehensive evaluations to assess
patients’ physical and functional status, considering diagnosis,
cognitive abilities, developmental level, and age-specific needs.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in
collaboration with patients and families, establishing measurable
goals and appropriate intervention strategies. Deliver
evidence-based interventions to improve mobility, strength,
balance, endurance, coordination, and overall functional
independence. Complete timely and accurate documentation, including
initial evaluations, daily and weekly progress notes, discharge
summaries, and other required records in accordance with regulatory
and professional standards. Participate in interdisciplinary care
conferences, family meetings, in-service programs, and departmental
meetings. Provide education and counseling to patients, families,
and caregivers regarding treatment plans, home exercise programs,
and discharge recommendations. Initiate and coordinate discharge
planning, including referrals to community agencies and post-acute
services as appropriate. Assist in coordinating and supervising
Physical Therapy and Physical Therapist Assistant student programs
and volunteer activities. Support department operations, including
orientation of new staff, patient scheduling to ensure appropriate
coverage, and supervision of support personnel. Participate in
performance improvement initiatives and maintain departmental
productivity standards. Maintain awareness of community resources
to facilitate appropriate referrals and continuity of care. Engage
in professional development, continuing education, and research
activities as appropriate. Adapt assessment and treatment
approaches to accommodate each patient’s unique physical,
psychological, cultural, developmental, and age-specific needs.
Foster professional and collaborative relationships with
physicians, medical staff, referral sources, and interdisciplinary
team members. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or entry-level
Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited Physical
Therapy program. Experience: No prior experience required; clinical
experience through accredited training programs acceptable.
Licensure & Certifications: Current Texas licensure as a Physical
Therapist (or eligibility for licensure). Current Basic Life
Support (BLS) certification. Ability to competently operate
physical therapy modalities and equipment consistent with
professional practice standards. Successful completion of required
pre-employment and annual health screenings. ? Work Environment
Clinical setting serving patients in South San Antonio.
Monday–Friday daytime schedule (8:00 AM–5:00 PM). Requires physical
activity including lifting, transferring, positioning, and
assisting patients of varying ages and mobility levels. Requires
compliance with professional standards, safety guidelines, and
organizational policies.
