Job Description:

*Registered Nurse (RN): *Provides direct nursing care to patients by preforming the duties listed below. Specific functions may vary depending on the are to which the employee is assigned. (PACU, OR, Admin, Pre-OP, etc.)


_*Essential duties and responsibilities:*_

* Prepares patients for surgery by providing peri-operative and post-operative instructions. Administers to the physical and emotional needs of patients and their family/care giver.

* Understands and interprets physician's orders, lab values, EKG's, and diagnostic reports. Checks accuracy of paperwork. Documents patient's medical history, including allergies and previous experiences with general anesthesia.

* Provides prescribe medication in accordance with physician's orders. understands medication dosing and possible side effects.

* Ensures that standard universal precautions and the principle of aseptic and sterile techniques use appropriately

* Implement safe practices and provides knowledgeable guidance and evaluation of the environment of care management including life safety (fire prevention), security, hazardous material and waste management, emergency protocol infection control and the safe use of medical equipment and utility

* Implements JC National Safety Goals

* Provides thorough discharge instructions to patients and family members/caregivers upon discharge

* Assesses and evaluates patient condition peri-operatively and communicates to physicians and anesthesia personnel regarding any changes in the patient

* Accurately document any supplies or special instructions given to the patient

* Serves as a resource to all members of the health care team

* Attends in service and meetings as required

* Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times

* Complies with policy procedures and adheres to the safety guidelines to ensure safe workplace and patient care environment

_*Qualification Requirements:*_



* Current Nursing License from the state of Texas

* Current ACLS/BLS certification

* Mathematical Skills (ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent)

* Reasoning Ability (to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and verbal instructions)

* Physical Demands (while performing this job duty the employee will be required to stand walk sit, kneel, and stoop. Be able to lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift/move over 100 pounds)

Pay: From $40.00 per hour
