It is steadfast proof of a hard-earned commitment to excellence in health care, with contented nurses at its heart.This department is a 30-bed medical oncology unit that serves adult and geriatric patients affected by cancer. Our patient population includes both solid tumor and blood cancer patients, complex benign hematology patients and palliative/end of life care patients. In addition to side effect/symptom management and supportive care, our nurses also administer chemotherapy, biotherapy and immunotherapy agents to palliate disease-related symptoms. A career in oncology nursing offers the opportunity to develop proficiencies in central line management, catheterization, enteral tube management, wound care, symptom control and emotional support for both patients and their caregivers. Providing exceptional care to this patient population requires stringent attention to detail, along with the desire to advocate early and often when you recognize clinical deterioration in your patients. While this specialty can be demanding, it is also rewarding beyond measure. Oncology nurses form uniquely special bonds with both their patients and with their peers.REQUIRED:1 Year of RN ExperienceDESIRED: (Not required to apply)Oncology ExperienceWe offer a Robust Sign on Bonus / Competitive Compensation / Excellent Benefits - What You Will Do: Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. What You Will Need: Licensure / Certification / Registration:
    • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
    • Certification specializing in Chemotherapy preferred.Education:
      • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required. Additional Preferences: No additional preferences.
