RN Resident - Austin, TexasOverviewTexas Oncology's Covid 19 vaccine mandate policy requires that all new hires be vaccinated or obtain an approved exemption before their start date. More information will be provided to you throughout the interview process.--Texas Oncology is looking for full-time new graduate Registered Nurse Residents for its spring residency cohort that will begin in January of 2023. The program will last eight weeks and will include both didactic and clinical components.-- Our locations are typically open Monday-Friday 8:30a-5p and are closed weekends and major holidays. The first 2 weeks of the program will take place in Dallas (with all expenses paid) while the remainder of the program will be completed in Austin. Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.--Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.Maintains work environment. Follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with a blood borne pathogen.Facilitates clinical operations and patient care. Facilitates and schedules consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals, and future appointments for patients.Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart.Inter professional collaboration.Acts as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.Participates in professional development activities and maintains current knowledge of oncology nursing by participating in ongoing educational opportunities. Qualifications The ideal candidate for the--position--will have the following background and experience:--
    • Completed graduation from an accredited program for professional nursing education within one year prior to January 2023; BSN preferred.Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac and Life Support) certification required.RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state is required by end of residency program in order to be hired on into a permanent position.Experience and knowledge of the purpose and use of medications in the treatment of cancer is preferred.Working Conditions:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
