What You Will Do

As an Associate with Ascension Seton, you will have the opportunity to communicate with patients prior to scheduled surgery to ensure that required patient education and clinical assessment are accomplished.

Responsibilities:

* Conducts an in-depth interview with patient to ensure full understanding of the surgical procedure, required preparation, and all other relevant information.
* Reviews patient's medical history and medications, assesses health status, and identifies any medical anomalies that may impact planned surgery.
* Initiates consultation with other physicians and/or orders additional pre-operative testing, as needed.
* Provides counsel to patient or patient's representative regarding timing, transportation before and after surgery, and planning for in-patient stay as needed.

What You Will Need

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

* Required Credential(s):
* Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.


* Preferred Credential(s):
* BLS Provider.



Education:

* Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.

Work Experience:

* None required.
