Executive OfficerPOSITION PURPOSE: The Chief Nursing Officer
monitors and assesses facility-wide patient nursing care for adults
(ages 18+), adolescents (ages 12-18), and children (ages 4-12), and
ensures that clinical nursing practice is based on established
standards of care and nursing and hospital policies and procedures,
and ensures the highest possible quality of patient care. Also
provides direct supervision for all nursing service personnel.KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To provide leadership and direction to Registered Nurses, LVNs,
and Mental Health Workers.
- To develop, implement and maintain a philosophy, goals, and
objectives for the nursing department, which are compatible with
professional nursing practice and philosophy and purpose of the
hospital.
- Provides administrative support to unit Nurse Manager and
Nursing Supervisors.
- To develop and administer the annual budget for the hospital
with help from CEO & CFO.
- To establish and maintain standards of care.
- To plan and coordinate staff development.
- Assumes responsibility for staffing all nursing service
units.
- Assumes responsibility for hiring, terminating and discrepancy
actions for all Nursing Service personnel under their direct
control.
- Interprets and implements administrative policies and
procedures.
- Serves on and attends hospital meetings and committees as
required or requested.
- Performs and/or reviews Nursing Staff evaluation.
- Promotes harmonious relationships with all staff.
- Performs other duties as required.QUALIFICATIONS:SKILLS,
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Knowledge and understanding of all
appropriate nursing and hospital administrative policies and
procedures, applicable state laws and all applicable standards.
Demonstrates strong leadership skills and organizational ability.
Demonstrate superior communication skill and is flexible to
changing situations. Maintains awareness of professional image and
demonstrates knowledge of principles of organizational, hospital
and fiscal management. Knowledge and skills associated with an
advanced degree.EDUCATION: MSN Preferred; or BSN with supervision
by a MSN.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Current Texas RN license in State
of Texas.EXPERIENCE: Three years experience in psychiatric nursing
required. Three years administrative/supervisory experience
