Great opportunity to join the Utilities and Energy Management (UEM) team. The selected candidate must have a current/valid Texas driver's license and a clean driving record. The projected end date is December 31, 2024.PurposeThe position will fill a vacancy. It is needed to continue to provide for the safety of everyone riding on elevators and escalators.Responsibilities

  • Inspects and certifies elevator equipment, lifts, and escalators for safe operating conditions, proper installation, adequate maintenance, and/or future modifications that are applicable to federal, state, and local codes and regulations. Documents all findings and advises management or service coordinator on recommended actions and solutions. Use of a UT vehicle will be needed.
  • Submits files and inspection reports with the appropriate government agency. Provide quality assurance audits for maintenance work that has been performed. Performs and certifies acceptance inspections and witnesses tests for new construction and remodels.Required QualificationsState of Texas license as an Elevator Inspector and certification as QEI-1 Elevator Inspector from an accredited organization. Knowledge of hazards and safety practices of the trade. Ability to read architectural, installation, and electrical drawings, including hoistways and machine room layouts and details related to the design and construction of equipment as specified in ASME A17.1, A17.5, A18.1, QEI-1, NFPA 70, NFPA 13, and the building codes.Preferred QualificationsSeven years of journey-level experience in the installation and maintenance of elevators and escalators. Two years of experience performing jurisdictional inspections.Driving RequiredThis job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).Hourly Rate$28.75Working Conditions
