Job Description:
DescriptionThe Department of Mexican American and Latina/o
Studies and the Latino Research Institute at The University of
Texas at Austin invite applications for a tenured Professor who
will also serve as the next director of the Latino Research
Institute to begin Fall or Spring of academic year 2024-2025. We
seek a social scientist with a record of research in the
interdisciplinary field of Latino/a Studies and/or with extensive
experience researching Latino/a/x populations. The ideal candidate
will have leadership experience relevant to directing a small
research institute and a strong record of securing extramural
grant-funding. In addition to directing the institute and actively
researching and publishing, the candidate will be expected to teach
both graduate and undergraduate courses (two per year while
director), direct honors theses and dissertations, and provide
service to the department, college and university.
QualificationsPh.D. in a relevant field of study in social science,
broadly defined. Preference for applicants with a Ph.D. in in
Chicana/o or Latina/o Studies, Political Science, Public Health,
Sociology, Indigenous Studies, Black Studies, Gender and Sexuality
Studies, Ethnic Studies, Communication, Psychology, Geography,
Demography, Social Work, Education, or Anthropology, and for
candidates with a research and teaching record commensurate with a
full professor at a tier one research university.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and
