DescriptionThe Vice President of Development is a key role in
developing and leading The Hotline's fundraising strategies for
major gifts, annual giving, corporate, capital campaigns, and
events, as well as, assisting with foundation grants and federal
applications when needed. This position will report to the Chief
Development Officer (CDO) and is a member of our senior leadership
team.Compensation: $150,000
- Develop, in partnership with the CDO, and implement a
comprehensive and innovative fundraising strategy to ensure that
the National Domestic Violence Hotline's contributed income meets
its annual funding objectives and upgrades and broadens its donor
base, particularly with individuals and foundations. -
- In conjunction with the CDO, meet or exceed annual KPIs. -
- Lead the development team with direct supervision of the
Director of Development and Director of Philanthropy and including
relevant consultants and vendors. -
- Maintain an active major gift portfolio through the
qualification, cultivation, and stewardship of major relationships
comprised of individuals, foundations, and corporations with the
capacity to give $10,000+.
- In conjunction with the CDO, assist with the CEO, CEAO, CDO,
and President of Policy qualification, cultivation, and stewardship
of strategic principal donor portfolio comprised of individuals
with the capacity to give $50,000+. -
- Lead opportunities to depart from antiquated philanthropic
systems to create a more inclusive giving culture for donors of
color, and LGBTQ+ and disabled communities. -
- Steward and grow relationships on behalf of The Hotline with
funders working with the CDO and the executive team. -
- Serve as the primary liaison to our national corporate partners
and seek additional partnerships aligned with The Hotline's
strategic vision. -
- In conjunction with the CDO, maintain regular analysis of
fundraising performance using relevant best practices and
benchmarks from similar national organizations and AFP and/or other
industry experts.
- Ensure that appropriate systems and processes are in place for
effective identification, tracking, and recognition of donors and
prospects. -
- In partnership with the CDO, support the development committee
of the Board of Directors.
- Coordinate with the CDO on the preparation of the department's
budget for revenues and expenses. This position will manage the
development department's budget. -
- Provides oversight for the donor database and our giving
policies and procedures. -
- When needed, represent The Hotline in public or via other
methods. -
- When needed, present The Hotline information for requesting
audience. -Education and Experience Required -
- Bachelor's degree in a related field -
- 8 years of relevant fundraising and management experience

- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge Skills & Abilities -
- Demonstrated leadership in developing successful fundraising
strategies. -
- Demonstrated leadership in managing a team by creating a
culture of excellence. -
- Advanced knowledge of fundraising techniques and strategies.

- Advances knowledge of Blackbaud products including Raiser's
Edge. -
- Understanding of social justice and racial equity, including
how societal oppressions create the conditions for, and sustain
intimate partner violence. -
- Written and communication skills; ability to write clear,
structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals. -
- Excellent time management and organizational skills -
- Ability to instill culture and inspire performance. -
- Strong presentation skills; proactive and strong attention to
detail; superior written and verbal. communication skills including
the ability to communicate effectively for presentation and written
publication, for internal and external distribution. -

Qualifications -
- CFRE certification preferred. Other Requirements/Working
Conditions -
- This is a hybrid role, based in Austin, Texas.
- This position requires a minimum of 2 days a week in the
office. Specific days are to be determined by the department
leader. -
- Must maintain standards of confidentiality related to agency
information. -
- Prolonged sitting or standing using keyboard, phone, and
computer. -
