VP DevelopmentYour job at the Loneliness Institute is to build a fundraising capability and team that can support our mission to solve the loneliness epidemic, along with several exciting initiatives we have planned for other social issues. -You'll be responsible for all fundraising efforts, including major gifts, government grants, foundation grants, corporate sponsorships, and annual giving. The program starts with just you and grows as you help us hire an amazing team. We're looking for someone who has multiple experiences creating and leading new development teams for small nonprofits with large-dollar potential. Our goal is to raise at least $5 million per year. As a senior member of the leadership team, you'll help shape our mission, craft our story, and build a high-impact organization. -Your job

Hire, coach, and lead a team of fundraising professionals and support staff.Cultivate key donors, pursue grant opportunities, and help conceive, execute, and support all fundraising efforts.Create a system for prospect identification, outreach, relationship building, and solicitation.Manage platforms for online fundraising and donor management. You'll help us choose the right software. Ensure the data is current and accurate.Work with the creative team to develop and evolve fundraising collateral and messaging.Develop and implement plans and budgets, set KPIs and track performance, and produce regular reports. -Your experiences include
You've done this before, at organizations similar to ours, at a similar stage. You have 5-10 years of experience in development work, including the direct supervision of a high-performing development department.Can lead the entire program. You are a senior executive that takes complete ownership and responsibility for your department's results. You are an experienced manager, teacher, and mentor to your team, while working side-by-side with them.Proven track record of fundraising success, generating revenue in major arenas, including individual, corporate, foundation, and capital campaign solicitation. You can do this on your own while building and supervising a team.Great leadership and management skills. You know how to grow a healthy team.You can be the face of our organization to VIPs and major donors, with top-tier communications and interpersonal skills.Existing relationships with philanthropic and corporate foundations.Know how to work in a fast-paced, high-tech workplace with modern tools.Strong planner who can set goals and performance expectations for your team.A systems builder who creates robust, documented processes.Knowledge and practice of the ethical standards within the fundraising industry.Ability to connect with our mission emotionally and share that in compelling ways. -The Loneliness Institute MissionThe Loneliness Institute is the clearinghouse for large-scale solutions to the loneliness epidemic. -The loneliness epidemic is an under-addressed, widespread crisis - and a significant underlying driver of other social and health crises. Loneliness makes every other problem deeper, makes every journey longer, and every victory harder. -Amazing work is being done to address this growing problem, but this work is highly fragmented across academic disciplines, local experiments, and other isolated initiatives. We bring together researchers and innovators to find out what works, and what works big. Then we share those best practices to help amplify successful programs and reconnect humanity. We need to fast-track getting these solutions into communities and the marketplace, to as many people as possible.Work with us to win this. -About the Loneliness InstituteWe're a new 501(c)3 nonprofit recently launched to address these issues. We have initial funding in place and are hiring our core team. This is your opportunity to be there at the beginning as we create a national-scale organization with significant social impact. You'll be at the table and have a voice as we refine our mission, build our community, create a great organization, and start solving this problem. It's a startup, so make sure you're comfortable with change and ambiguity before signing on. We have a very open, collaborative workplace.
