expectation to work on-site.PurposePlan and aid in the management
of the accounting unit within the Business Services
Office.Responsibilities
- Manage the accounting unit within the Business Services Office
in the performance of assignments involving recording, analysis,
and reporting of financial data. Oversee the travel function.
- Review and reconcile accounts and fund groups for the propriety
of entries and approval of such vouchers. Monitor accounts,
transactions and/or processes to ensure integrity and reliability
and adherence with University policies and procedures. Confirm
financial status periodically by monitoring and reconciling revenue
and expenses. Establish standards for documentation of each
accounting function.
- Confirm financial status by monitoring and reconciling revenue
and expenses. Maintain accounting controls by managing the chart of
accounts and standardizing accounting policies and procedures.
- Preparation of financial reports including monthly summary
reports, unit budget to actual reports, account monitoring reports,
annual financial reports, and other miscellaneous reports.
- Support fiscal efficiencies for the school and business
services. Maintain account information and serve as the go to
person for new accounts, account funding, and problem solve funding
options.
- Responsible for supporting financial activities such as budget,
contract compliance, grant compliance, and other business
services.
- Prepares recommendations and documentation to create and update
business services. Interprets and ensures compliance with federal,
state, grant awards, and University policy. Performs related duties
as assigned. May manage special projects.Required
QualificationsBachelor's degree and no less than eight years
experience at a mid-level position or no less than two years in a
supervisory position with progressively responsible experience in
finance or accounting. Experience in transaction processing,
planning, reporting, and financial analysis. Demonstrated ability
to manage multiple tasks and set priorities and objectives.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word programs. Must be able to
work in a fast-paced environment with constant deadlines and
ability to manage long term projects. Experience interpreting
policy and implementing procedures. Ability to problem solve and
research financial inquiries. Excellent written and oral
communication. Professional demeanor, and excellent customer
service skills. Attention to detail and problem-solving.
Demonstrated time management, critical thinking, and organizational
skills. Ability to be discreet with confidential matters and to use
sound judgment to facilitate independent decisions.Relevant
education and experience may be substituted as
appropriate.Preferred QualificationsMore than the required
education and experience. Familiarity with State or UT Austin
vouchering and accounting policies and procedures. Experience using
electronic accounting and work management systems to process
web-based documents. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and
work both independently and as a team member without day-to-day
supervision; ability to work under pressure, while maintaining a
high level of accuracy and attention to detail; proficiency in
gathering, analyzing, presenting financial data and making
recommendations. Supervisory experience. Familiarity with federal
grant management.Salary Range$70,000 + depending on
qualificationsWorking Conditions
