Job Description:

Cisco's Networking Academy, which is Cisco's largest Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, is adding a Business Development Manager (BDM) to our team to expand our reach and impact in the US. In addition, we are focusing on growing our impact for key corporate initiatives such as our Social Justice initiative, Corrections and 2nd Chance and Apprenticeships. Our team works with Cisco sales teams, channel partners, Networking Academy partners, State education leaders in K12, community colleges, universities, as well as non-profits and community organizations across the US to deliver a world class IT skills training program.

What You'll Do:

Is your passion to make a difference in the lives of youth, marginalized young adults, people looking to reskill and those seeking to improve their future? As a Business Development Manager, you will have the opportunity to make a profound difference in the lives of many diverse populations, by providing individuals with the opportunity to gain valuable technical skills to launch and sustain a career in technology. Our BDM team identifies, qualifies and positions Networking Academy offerings to address the critical skills gap that is so pervasive today. Did you know 90% of the tech jobs open today are outside of the technical companies? Think tele-health, IOT solutions for climate change, protecting education systems and their students from hackers. You will articulate the value proposition and benefits of the Networking Academy to a diverse set of partners, which includes university deans, curriculum chairs, high school educators, state legislators as well as Governors staff.

The BDM will elevate themselves, those around them, and the organization by:

1. Collaborating with Public Sector Sales, our Networking Academy partners and various partners who support education and community development, to qualify opportunities, expand our impact and reach and achieve student growth goals in our IT skills curriculum.

2. Supporting complex opportunities including engagement with Public Sector Sales, Government Affairs, Channel Partners, Nonprofits and other Corporate Affairs entities.

3. Positioning the broad portfolio of courses and delivery methods, to showcase the benefits to skills development from participating in the Networking Academy.

4. Knowing and understanding the education market and the addressable opportunities in the territory, observing key performance indicators of program performance and propose activities to course correct as conditions warrant.

5. Supporting SLED sales in elevating their conversation by describing our Corporate Social Responsibility mission, history, partners and impact, to differentiate Cisco and show how we can "Power an Inclusive Future for All".

6. Establishing trust and confidence in the value of our program to support technology skills development and creation of a pathway leading to employment.

7. Communicating the Corporate Affairs and Networking Academy mission to diverse partners including corrections entities, cultural minority serving institutions, rehabilitation and workforce development organizations, non-profits and educational systems in your assigned territory.

8. Explore new fields/ niches and investigate the undiscovered areas to create new opportunities to develop the initiative. By bringing out of the box ideas, challenge the status quo and shake up the traditional model and approach and start to create a new perception of Cisco Networking Academy.

9. Supplying feedback to the development of new course offerings, new partnership opportunities and new integration opportunities.

    Why Cisco:

#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference powering an inclusive future for all.

We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their digital businesses. Some may think we're "old" (36 years strong) and only about hardware, but we're also one of the world's largest software companies. And we are a security solutions company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do - you can't put us in a box!

But "Digital Transformation" is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)

Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, give our egos a break, and give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, bold steps, and take difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a dedication to equality for all, there is no moving forward.

So, you have colorful hair? Don't care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That's cool. Pop culture geek? Many of us are. Passion for technology and world changing? Be you, with us!

    Cisco COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements
The health and safety of Cisco's employees, customers, and partners is a top priority. Our goal is to protect and mitigate the spread of COVID-19 infection for strong business resiliency during the pandemic. Therefore, Cisco may require new hires to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 if the role requires business-related travel, meeting with customers/partners (including visiting third-party sites on behalf of Cisco), attending trade events, and Cisco office entry, unless otherwise prohibited by applicable law, and in countries where COVID-19 vaccination is legally required. The company will consider legally required accommodations/exceptions for medical, religious, and other reasons as per the requirements of the role and in accordance with applicable law. Additional information will be provided to candidates about the requirements and accommodation process at the offer time based on region.
